It all comes down to this, the ARCA Championship Points Battle. One last final race. The final race that will determine the next Champion of the Menards ARCA Series. In last week’s action at Lucas Oil, Christian Eckes took a 15 point lead over his teammate Michael Self. Eckes has come all the way back and erased a 245 point deficit to regain the points lead that he once held way back after week two of the season. This has been the closest ARCA points battle in 10 years, so you bet all eyes will be on these two and the Venturini Motorsports team.

Now, just because Eckes has come roaring back doesn’t mean we should count out Self. Michael Self won at Kansas in 2017 and this will be Christian’s first race at this track. So, when we say the Championship is up for grabs, we mean it is truly up for grabs. Self is no stranger to this track and actually prefers the mile and half-track over many in the series.
Some of us here at Belly Up have had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Michael and Christian several times. We have got to sit back and watch it unfold up close as well as witness first hand just how competitive these drivers are. We have also witnessed the importance a team like Venturini Motorsports has been at creating top tier talent.
Rattlesnake, host of our very own NASCAR Podcast – Chairgatin’, had the luxury of talking to both drivers at the same time this week as pictured below. Neither teammate wanted to take a jab at the other, showing a sign of mutual respect but after listening you could tell they both had a championship in their sights.
Needless to say, whoever wins this is going to be apart of ARCA championship points battle history and have a story to tell for the rest of their life. On behalf of Belly Up Sports and Belly Up Racing. I just want to thank team Venturini for taking a chance with this up-and-coming company and for allowing us to follow these driver’s championship run.
