A statement released by the M-Sport Ford WRT stated that Adrian Fourmaux would not race EKO Acropolis Rally Greece.
Why?
Adrian Fourmaux will be unable to race EKO Acropolis Rally Greece due to roll cage damage. The roll cage damage was caused by an accident during Ypres Rally Belgium. The M-Sport team does not have enough time to repair the damage for Fourmaux to race the event. Fourmaux will still travel to EKO Acropolis Rally Greece and join the team during reconnaissance to prepare for future events.
What Does This Mean For M-Sport?
The M-Sport Ford World Rally Team were to send six drivers to EKO Acropolis Rally Greece. With Fourmaux out, they will have five. M-Sport only has six Ford Puma Rally1 chassis. With all the cars being used during the rally there is no other option for Fourmaux. The other five drivers M-Sport are sending to the event are Sebastian Leob, Craig Breen, Gus Greensmith, Pierre-Louis Loubet, and Jourdan Serderidis. Fourmaux’s absence likely won’t cause much of an issue, as M-Sport is still sending more cars than Hyundai and Toyota.
A Look Back On Fourmaux’s WRC season so far
Adrian Fourmaux’s season thus far has been rocky, much like the other M-Sport drivers. Fourmaux currently sits 16th in the WRC standings, with nine points. Fourmaux has only finished four out of the nine rallies he’s entered so far this season. His highest finish this season came at Rally Estonia where he placed seventh overall.
A Look Back At 2021
Adrian Fourmaux would place seventh at the event in 2021. Finishing 11.7 seconds behind Elfyn Evans. Fourmaux would’ve finished in the top five if he didn’t receive a three-minute penalty for arriving 18 minutes late to a stage. Thierry Neuville would finish one minute and 46.7 seconds behind Fourmaux.
