Justin Jefferson has more than earned the right to be in the MVP discussion. He has had a number of games this year where he was clearly the best player on the field. He has been making it look easy all year. As of now Jefferson is one-yard shy of Tyreek Hill for most receiving yards in the league, with 1,232.
I think when it comes to value on the football field Jefferson is as valuable as it gets. This Viking team is what they are, thanks to Jefferson. He is putting his team in a position to win games, by himself. He has had a number of game-clinching plays this year.
Vs the Patriots
Justin Jefferson was the reason the Viking were able to win on Thanksgiving night. Usually he beats defenses with his high speed, but Turkey Day was different. He was using his physicality to beat the dominant Patriots defense. He was taking big hits all night and holding onto the ball. The Patriots were doing the best job they could to contain him and by the end of the day just had to tip their cap.
Vs the Bills
Jefferson made one of the best catches all year when his Vikings beat the Buffalo Bills. The catch was so good that the NFL Hall of Fame already has the gloves and arm sleeve he was wearing on display.
Vs the Packers
How about week one of the season when Jefferson had 184-yards and 2 touchdowns to start off the year, followed by one of the meaner griddy’s in recent memory.
Looking Forward
At this rate it will be hard to ignore Jefferson when it’s time for the NFL Honors. It has always been a QB award, however this is a down year for QB’s all around the NFL. If there was ever a year a non QB could take the award it would be this year.
It is a bit crazy to see what he has done in just three seasons. He could already make a case for the Hall of fame.
