Dave Carapetyan has a new creation of his for the rally stages. As he has custom-built a Chevy Colorado to be a monster on the stages. Here’s everything you need to know about Texas Dave’s new ride.
What Is It?
Dave Carapetyan’s “new” rally truck is a 2006 Chevy Colorado. Now this may sound bland and at a base it very much is, but we haven’t even got to the good part yet. As this isn’t your everyday farm truck or grocery getter anymore. As Texas Dave has swapped the old 2.8-litre four-cylinder engine for a 450-horsepower, 6-litre Corvette engine. The new engine doubles the horsepower of a base 2006 Chevy Colorado which makes 220 horsepower. The truck made its first appearance at the Do It For Dale Rally Sprint hosted by Rally Ready last month as the 0 car.
Where Will The Truck Compete?
Unfortunately for fans of the American Rally Association, we won’t be seeing this on stages this season. As the truck likely isn’t even legal by the ARA’s regulations. Add that to the fact Dave Carapetyan wants to stay closer to his Rally Ready Ranch this season. The truck will still participate in rally related events this season. As it will participate in four Rally Sprints hosted by Rally Ready. Much like it did as the 0 car during the Do It For Dale Rally Sprint last month.
Where’s The Subaru?
For those wondering where the number 725, 2006 Subaru WRX STI is. It’s still being repaired after Carapetyan’s crash at LSPR. The crash would inevitable cost Dave Carapetyan his shot at the LN4 Drivers Championship. The crash would happen on just the second stage of the rally. As he and the Subaru cursed KJ Miller would go off into the trees after a jump. The car would subsequently catch on fire, however, Dave Carapetyan and KJ Miller were able to get the fire out before the car burned to the ground.
