Patrick Gruszka would take home third overall and first in the RC2 class at the Rally In The 100 Acre Wood earlier this month. Gruszka would spend most of the rally fighting with fellow RC2 driver Tom Williams for third place. Gruszka would head into day two with an 18.5-second lead over Williams. Unfortunately, the second day would see Gruszka lose his lead. Fortunately for Gruszka, Williams would retire on the transit section between SS15 and SS16 due to a turbo issue. Ending the battle between Gruszka and Williams.
What Was Gruszka’s Favourite Moment?
Patrick Gruszka would say his favourite moment of the Rally In The 100 Acre Wood would come during the first day. He would enjoy the fast stages on the day. Saying it felt like he clicked into another mode during the day. Describing it as an out-of-body experience, that it felt like somebody else was driving the car.
What Was The Biggest Challenge Gruszka Faced At 100AW?
Patrick would experience an intercom issue near the water crossing on SS10 or SS12. He wouldn’t experience much time loss due to it luckily. Gruszka would also lose his cutoff on the Powerstage. This would cost him any chance at earning any extra Powerstage points.
Did Gruszka Follow His Strategy Heading Into The Weekend?
Gruszka would follow his strategy roughly to a tee. As his strategy was to gain speed, get used to the car, compete for a top spot in RC2 and finish the event. Gruszka would do all of that and more. As Gruszka would not only compete all weekend with Williams, he would finish day one ahead of him. This would be one of the many things Gruszka would do on his way to third overall and first in the RC2 class at The Rally In The 100 Acre Wood.
Was Gruszka Happy With His Final Position?
Gruszka was very happy with his final position at 100AW. As it doesn’t get much better than taking a podium and a class win at an event. Especially at one of the fastest rallies in the ARA National Championship. This is one of, if not the best finishes Gruszka has had to date.
What Was Gruszka’s Biggest Regret At The 100AW?
Gruszka would say his biggest regret at The Rally In The 100 Acre Wood would be being too cautious. As he wishes he found the limit more and tried to find more speed in slower corners.
