Despite all the optimism surrounding the New York Yankees heading into the 2023 season, they’ve been a massive disappointment. The Yankees have been flirting with last place for most of the season. While injuries played a part, their offense has been badly underperforming all season. Heck, they fired their hitting coach midseason. However, if the Yankees miss the postseason someone else is going to have to take the fall as well. I believe if Aaron Boone is fired after the season, then New York would be letting go of the wrong person.
Aaron Boone’s Seat Is Heating Up

This is surprising given how New York hasn’t been able to play with a full team all year. If the Yankees were to miss the postseason, it would be the first time this occurred under Aaron Boone. Under Joe Girardi, the Yankees missed the postseason four different times.
A Majority Of The Issues Are Brian Cashman’s Problem

Somehow, it’s Boone’s fault for the constant rash of injuries, losing Aaron Judge for over a month, injury-prone players being brought into the organization, the handling of prospects, roster construction, and Cashman’s obsession with analytics. Boone is somehow being blamed for all those issues when they are under Brian Cashman’s purview. What’s more alarming is that a lot of these issues were showing up during the second half of the 2022 season. If it hadn’t been for Aaron Judge’s season of a lifetime, the Yankees would be in the exact same place they are in now.
Cash Should Really Be The One To Go
While he signed an extension after last season; Cashman shouldn’t be treated like some deity just because of his longevity in the organization. The last World Series win in 2009 feels like a “long time ago” now. Cashman deserves a lot more of the blame for the disappointing season than Aaron Boone. It’s going on 15 years since the Yankees last won the World Series, if Hal Steinbrenner sides with Brian Cashman, then the Yankees will have fired the wrong guy.

CASHMAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN MOVED TO ANOTHER POSITION OR EVEN LET GO ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO AS THE YANKEES HAVE FLOUNDERED RATHER BADLY FOR MUCH OF THE TIME SINCE THEY LAST WON THE WORLD SERIES – THIS DOES NOT MEAN BOONE SHOULD REMAIN BUT THE PLAYERS GETTING HURT OR UNDERPERFORMING REALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY MANAGER / COACHES AS THEY CAN ONLY TELL PLAYERS AND SHOW THEM HOW TO PLAY BUT CANNOT GO ON THE FIELD TO ASSIST – TOO OFTEN ACROSS ALL PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAMS THE WRONG PEOPLE ARE LET GO OR FIRED – COLONEL77
Boone and cash should be fired
