A ball pops the glove making a deafening sound as it lands in Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras’ glove. It’s a noise so loud that can be heard throughout American Family Field. The pitch clocks in at 102 mph to the awe and excitement of Brewers fans. The ball is not only traveling exceptionally fast, but it also has a break of 1.5 inches. This makes it nearly impossible to hit. The pitch was thrown by Brewers rookie reliever Abner Uribe who’s become a rising star in Milwaukee’s bullpen.
Uribe Has Become A Fast Rising Star
Devin Williams is the big name in the Brewers bullpen. However, Uribe is quickly establishing himself as yet another elite relief arm in Milwaukee’s bullpen. The high-heat throwing righty has already set the record for the fastest pitch throw in franchise history. Talk about making your presence known early.
Going From Unknown Pitcher To A Great Bullpen Weapon

He was a hidden diamond, only discovered by scouts who were willing to journey deep into the Dominican Republic and find hidden elite talent. Milwaukee would sign Uribe as an international free agent in 2017. At the time of his signing, Uribe’s fastball was only in the low 90s.
Upon signing with the Brewers, Milwaukee sent him to their Double-A affiliate in Biloxi, Mississippi. This is the same place that developed current Brewers stars Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, Freddy Peralta, Devin Williams, and many other pitchers. Uribe’s time with the Biloxi Shuckers did wonders for him. His fastball now averages 100.8 mph and he’s on the verge of joining a long line of elite Brewer relievers.
Abner Uribe Is In Milwaukee To Stay

This season, he’s quickly established himself to be a dependable late-inning high-leverage reliever when it comes to protecting a Brewer lead. Manager Craig Counsell has even started using him as a set-up man.
Abner Uribe went from an unknown player to one of Milwaukee’s best bullpen arms. More impressively, he’s a reliever the Brewers can depend on. Whether it’s in high-leverage or late-inning situations, he’s who they look to. The flamethrowing righty is a big reason why the Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of returning to the postseason. It’s easy to forget that he’s only a 23-year-old rookie. Uribe has shown this season that he’s in Milwaukee to stay.
