There are spoiler teams that are near the end of a trying year and looking to ruin contenders’ chances. Here are some of the teams that could be spoilers this year.
The scoreboard-watching begins with September upon us. There will be plenty of drama, big moments, and intense games next month. There are teams that are not in the playoff race, but they would love nothing more than to ruin teams’ October dreams.

Some divisions are sewn up with the Dodgers in the NL West and the Braves in the NL East. Also, the NL wild-card battle is closely contested by the Phillies and Cubs who have built separation at the top. The Giants, Reds, Marlins, and Diamondbacks are all in the hunt. Therefore, every game is a must-win which could motivate some of the struggling teams.
The Mets are a team that could play spoiler as they have scored victories over a couple of AL contenders like the Mariners and Rangers. It has been a trying year, but they could still affect the postseason race. In September, the Mets will stretch twenty games against NL wild card teams. The Pirates could also make a difference as they have compiled some wins against top teams like the Phillies and Braves.

The wild card races are tight, so if they win some games then that would affect teams’ standings. Another team that could be a big spoiler is the Cardinals like the Rockies they play in divisions that have the potential to have multiple playoff teams. They are on pace to lose the most games since 1990 but they still boast a powerful offense.
