So how did we feel about the format of the last NASCAR Power Rankings I put out? Was it a little more streamlined and quicker to read? Well, either way, it’s time to do another week’s worth of updating before the cup series goes to battle in Texas.
NASCAR Power Rankings Lower 10
- 15. Kevin Harvick -1
Kevin keeps sliding sadly down these NASCAR Power Rankings. It’s not all his fault. The performance just hasn’t been there for the organization.
- 14. Ross Chastain +1
I knew starting outside of the top twenty, would probably really hurt this team. He grabbed stage points after stage one but that’s it.
- 13. Joey Logano
When you get put back in the pack, especially at a track like Bristol your risk of being involved in accidents is going to tighten. Well, it struck for Joey. Better luck in Texas Joey.
- 12. Chase Elliott
Chase was again in and around the top ten all race. He’s stuck though in these NASCAR Power Rankings and it wouldn’t surprise me if he has his first winless season in a while.
- 11. Bubba Wallace
He did it, and advanced onto the round of twelve! I have to admit I was a little surprised just knowing how Bubba has been recently at Bristol but he was able to do enough.
- 10. Ryan Blaney -2
Another one of the many playoff drivers who had a hard time on the high banks of Bristol. He did enough to make it to the round of twelve but it’s to be seen if he can do that again.
- 9. Christopher Bell +1
I’d say three straight pole awards, and leading almost two hundred laps consists of a good race weekend.
- 8. Brad Keselowski +1
Brad, has become throughout the season a lower top-ten finishing driver. This is amazing considering how fast this team has been able to turn back into the competitor we all knew they could be. Onto the round of 12 for them!
- 7. Kyle Busch -1
It didn’t seem like Kyle, or many of the other drivers that struggled Saturday night had a car that could handle dirty air well.
- 6. Martin Truex Jr. -1
Add him to the list of playoff drivers who again did not have a good weekend at Bristol. It seems like this team has lost the fire they had earlier this season.
The Top Five
- 5. Tyler Reddick +2
I’ve been one of the biggest critics of this team. Since the playoffs have started though they’ve been solid!
- 4. Chris Buescher -2
Chris didn’t do anything wrong this weekend at Bristol. Instead, though his competitors showed out and jumped a few positions on these NASCAR Power Rankings.
- 3. William Byron -2
Another driver who didn’t do anything wrong this week, but wasn’t exactly the best either especially compared to the top two drivers.
- 2. Kyle Larson +1
Kyle led twenty laps and kept doing all he could to catch Denny late but fell short. Altogether though in the first round of the playoffs he’s led almost two hundred total laps, won once, and not finished outside of the top five.
- 1. Denny Hamlin +3
Alright, so this man won, at Bristol and finished second at Kansas. He’s rolling right now, which is kind of scary.
Texas Here They Come!
The Chevrolets have had some success this season on intermediate tracks like Texas. As of recently though we’ve seen Toyota’s, and a few select Fords up front as well. It’s really hard to tell you who is going to be a solid pick this early in the week. Look to Team Bowtie this week, they tied the Fords for most cars in the top ten last year. Plus they’ve shown better team speed as a group compared to the Fords
Texas is a fast race track, and to be honest, these mile-and-a-half tracks have put on some good shows this season. I mean go back two weeks ago to Kansas if you need a reference point. Will they do it again this weekend? Who knows there is only one way to find out; tune in and watch just like me.
The AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 in Texas is set to start at 3:30 PM EST and will be on USA Network.
