The 2023 MLB season is over. Now that the dust has settled, the stage is now set for the post-season. There were some big disappointments this year and some even bigger surprises. New teams have surfaced into this year’s playoff schedule, while some of the regulars are gone. No matter who is there we can be certain that there will be some electrifying matchups to watch. For now, let’s take a quick rundown of who is in and who is out.

American League

East

??Baltimore Orioles: (101-61) Congrats on first division win in forever.

?Tampa Bay Rays: (99-63) Came screaming out of gate. Peaked too early?

?Toronto Blue Jays: (89-73) 89 wins and had to sweat out making the wild card.

New York Yankees: (82-80). Kept the winning season streak alive. Very disappointing year.

Boston Red Sox: (78-84). Time to rebuild.

Central

??Minnesota Twins: (87-75) Held on and won the division.

Detroit Tigers: (78-84) How did this team sneak into second place in the division?

Cleveland Guardians: (76-86) Peaked before all-star break.

Chicago White Sox: (61-101) Look on the bright side, the other Chicago team is out, too.

Kansas City Royals: (56-106) Congrats Bobby Witt Jr.. 30/30. Very impressive for the 23-year-old.

West

??Houston Astros: (90-72) Huge four game win streak to steal back the division title.

?Texas Rangers: (90-72) A dark horse wild card team.

Seattle Mariners: (88-74) Brutal to not make playoffs with 88 wins.

Los Angeles Angels: (73-89) Two MVP players on the team and never anything to show.

Oakland Athletics: (50-112) Sell the team. Back-to-back 100 losses.

National League

East

??Atlanta Braves: (104-58) World Series or bust.

?Philadelphia Phillies: (90-72) Great since All-Star Break just like 2022. Deja Vu?

?Miami Marlins: (84-77) Built off 2022 season nicely and took wins away from East rivals.

New York Mets: (74-87) Money can’t buy you wins.

Washington Nationals: (71-91) Decent first year of rebuild avoided back-to-back 100 losses.

Central

??Milwaukee Brewers: (92-70) Solid team since All-Star Break. Offense is not enough to be a threat.

Chicago Cubs: (83-79) Screaming since All-Star Break, then came back to earth in September.

Cincinnati Reds: (82-80) Fantastic year above .500 after 100 loss season.

Pittsburgh Pirates: (76-86) Fantastic year after back-to-back 100 loss seasons.

St. Louis Cardinals: (71-91) Terrible.

West

??Los Angeles Dodgers (100-62) Squeaked 100 wins out. Best team since All-Star break.

?Arizona Diamondbacks: (84-78) Way to hold on and get the last wild card spot.

San Diego Padres: (82-80) Finished year out strong. One of the most skilled lineups in MLB.

San Francisco Giants: (79-83) Never showed up consistently against better teams.

Colorado Rockies: (59-103) Horrible year once again.
