After going to the postseason in 2022, the Seattle Mariners failed to provide an encore and missed the playoffs in 2023. Seattle has needs they need to address particularly on offense. Despite adding bats last offseason, Seattle’s offense wasn’t much better this season. If Seattle is serious about winning, then they need to make a splash. One player who could get the Mariners offense out of neutral is Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena.
Seattle Desperately Needs Help On Offense

Teoscar Hernandez is now a free agent and will probably we wearing another uniform. It appears whenever the Mariners make a move to try to improve their offense, the players they acquire mostly fail. Seattle desperately needs outfield help and a consistent offensive threat rather than rolling the dice on a player who had one career year.
Arozarena Is A Proven Offensive Stud

He proved in 2021 that his 2020 season was no mirage by winning Rookie of the Year in 2021. In four seasons in Tampa, he has a slash line of .264/.350/.450 with an OPS of .800. He has also hit 70 home runs and 252 RBI. He recently also just made his very first all-star team. The former Cuban defector is the type of player that Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto should be comfortable acquiring. He has three controllable years left before he is eligible for free agency. He’s also only scheduled to make $9 million next year.
He Is A Proven Postseason Performer As Well

He has also hit 11 home runs and 17 RBI during his career in the playoffs. The last time the Mariners were in the postseason they combined to slash .223/.291/.361 with an OPS of .653 in 2022.
Arozarena Is Worth The Heavy Price

If the Mariners give up Bryce Miller, Emerson Hancock, and Harry Ford, then that should be enough to land Arozarena. While it’s going to be tough to give up Miller, it’ll be worth it to land a player like Arozarena who can instantly upgrade their sluggish offense.
Randy Arozarena Is Everything The Seattle Mariners Need

Arozarena would not only help get them over the hump, but he’d be able to perhaps spark a deep postseason run. He’s under team control for three more years and is on a cheap contract. While it’ll be a high price for the Mariners to pay to acquire him, it’ll be worth it. With Suarez and Kelenic now gone, the Mariners desperately need a big bat in the line-up. The AL West isn’t getting weaker any time soon and to have a chance at the postseason, Seattle needs to acquire Randy Arozarena.
