This spring training 2024 preview includes report dates, teams, and more. Most pitchers and catchers are set to report to team camps in Arizona and Florida in February.
All 30 MLB teams will see action beginning February 24th with the first spring training game. The teams are split into the Grapefruit League and Cactus League based on their location. Also, new players are joining their new teams for the first time. Here is everything you need to know ahead of spring training.
Spring Training Preview: Cactus League
Standard code Embed from Getty ImagesThe Dodgers and Padres will head to camp sooner than everyone else. They are set to open the regular season with a series of games in Seoul, South Korea. Opening day is March 30th. Each team sets its spring training report dates with pitchers and catchers reporting first. It’s finally time to see some live baseball action after a long offseason.
The Cactus in Arizona is always entertaining with fun players and teams. The Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Angels, Rangers, Athletics, Brewers, White Sox, and Royals report by February 19th for everyone. Followed the next day by the Rockies, Guardians, Brewers, Giants and Mariners. There are some competitive teams in this league so expect some high-scoring games.
Grapefruit League
Standard code Embed from Getty ImagesThe Grapefruit League plays its games in Florida. The Red Sox, Twins, Astros, Mets, Pirates, Cardinals, Rays, and Nationals head to camp on February 19th. The Braves, Orioles Marlins, Yankees, and Blue Jays follow the next day. Also, a key Grapefruit League series to watch is The Red Sox and Rays who will face off against each other March 9-10 in the Dominican Republic. There will be plenty of fun games, prospects, and stars to watch in both leagues.
