Centers aren’t a position praised by average NFL fans much. Unless that player is Jason Kelce, that is. The Philadelphia Eagles center officially called it quits on Monday, ending a 13-year career in the NFL. Many of us saw the emotion on his face after the team’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round, signally possible retirement. But, those rumors were not true until today.
Let’s look back at the legacy Kelce left behind as he rides off into the sunset.
A Career Worth Remembering
The greatest to ever do it đ

Congratulations on an incredible NFL career, Jason Kelce. pic.twitter.com/HNRn5etpna
The Cleveland Heights, Ohio native was drafted in the sixth round by the Eagles in 2011. He immediately made an impact, playing all 16 games during his rookie season. Dependability is something you can describe Kelce. Except for 2012 (only played two games due to injury), he played all 16 or 17 games. Yes, he missed four games in 2014. But, he still made the Pro Bowl so let’s give the man his props.
Speaking of Pro Bowls, he was selected a total of seven times. This includes five straight from 2019-2023. Kelce was also selected as first-team, All-Pro six times throughout his career.
In all, the veteran center was the cornerstone of the offensive line for the Eagles season after season. He’s a big reason why they won the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots in the 2017-2018 season.
The Greatest Center In The Game?
Known for his strong leadership, he was a vocal advocate for his teammates and instilled a culture of hard work and dedication within the offensive line unit.
With all of his accomplishments and play on the field, he is no doubt going to be a Hall of Famer when he is eligible. The greatest center of all time? Jason Kelce is the favorite for that title.
Thank you for everything, Jason Kelce. Enjoy retirement and spending time with your family, good sir.
