In a stunning trade, the Buffalo Bills send star wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Holy cow. No one saw this coming at all. Let’s see how this trade affects both teams. /
Full Trade Details
- Buffalo receives 2025 second-round pick
- Houston receives WR Stefon Diggs, a 2024 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 fifth-round pick
Houston’s Offense is D-A-N-G-E-R-O-U-S
This just shows that no matter what’s going on with other sports in the world (March Madness, MLB Opening Week, NBA), the NFL will make headlines some way, somehow. The Diggs trade is just another example.
Adding the star wideout only boosts the Houston Texans’ chances at winning not just the AFC South in 2024, but also the conference as a whole. The 4x All-Pro joins a receiving corps that already had two talented guys in Nico Collins and Tank Dell. You know how CJ Stroud just had an outstanding rookie season? His sophomore season is going to be a SHOW.
It’s clear the Texans are the winners of this offseason (well, until the draft begins but honestly, they’re still a winner regardless). After trading their first-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for a second-round pick, they used that pick to get one of the best receivers in the game.
Stroud. Joe Mixon is in the backfield. The aforementioned three receivers plus tight end Dalton Schultz. Add in a solid offensive line, and the Texans’ offense is going to be a headache to deal with.
With a quarterback on a rookie deal, seeing Houston go all-in makes so much sense.
Buffalo… Why?
First, it was Gabriel Davis that left Buffalo. Now, it’s Diggs. The current depth chart at WR for the Bills stands at Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir, and Mack Hollins.
Poor Josh Allen is screwed.
So what’s the Bills like… plan? Traded away their superstar to a competing up and coming AFC team. Lost Gabe Davis too. Sure they’ll draft receivers but this certainly doesn’t feel like a contending offense if Josh Allen doesn’t carry them like he always does?

Honestly, from Buffalo’s point of view, we saw this trade coming. There were just many occasions where it was clear Diggs needed a change of scenery not just for himself but the team as well.
You sure ?

*in response to a tweet in regards to Josh Allen not needing Diggs to succeed
Diggs’ departure just adds to the number of veterans who left the team. Other guys include Tre’Davious White and Jordan Poyer. Though it helps with clearing up cap space, the Bills will still have to deal with a $30+ million dead cap hit this year.
It’s clear now that the Bills will draft a wide receiver in the draft. Whether they trade up to get one of the top-tier ones or stay and get whoever is there, we shall see.
After signing an extension with the team in 2022, Diggs is no longer a Buffalo Bill. I guess, even if you sign an extension or express a desire to stay with a team, anything can happen.
