The World Series is pretty far out from this point, but that only helps your case for a future bet.
One team I think has the roster to win a World Series for the first time since 2009, is the New York Yankees. With players like Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton they have the star power to do it. They have had a nice start to their season with 12 wins. Their odds of winning the World Series sit at +800. The Yankees sluggers’ currently lead the MLB in walks taken with 88.
If you are not a fan of betting favorites, don’t worry. There is another team I am eyeing down for a very specific reason. The Kansas City Royals are also starting off their season nicely with an 11-6 record. Although their roster is nowhere near as talented as the Yankees, their roster is not what I am looking at.
What sticks out to me about the Royals is one of the owners, Patrick Mahomes.
Back in 2020, Mahomes became the youngest part-owner of a professional sports team by joining the Royals ownership. With the amount of success he has had with the city of Kansas City, the Royals should be on everyone’s radar.
We all know of the Brady effect and how legit that was. Boston became the city of Champions with Brady. Then while he won a Super Bowl in Tampa, the Lightning became a dynasty of their own winning back-to-back Stanley Cups and the Rays fell just short of winning a world series.
I’m not inviting the Mahomes effect in but just doing my due diligence.
The odds for the Royals to win the World Series are +8000. A much more exciting pick than the Yankees. The Royals have a total of 2 World Series victories while the Yankees have a historic 27, leading all other MLB clubs by a large margin.
