On Monday, many Giants fans were all looking forward to what the franchise would reveal. After all, their announcement before the start of the weekend left many fans excited.

So, like many others, I woke up on Monday excited to see what new uniforms Big Blue would wear for the 2024 season. Instead, we got this.

I want to make this clear. Unhappy is the best adjective to describe how I felt after watching the hype video for the first time. Where were the new jerseys? All we were going to get was a patch

Then, you watch it again and realize “This wasn’t such a bad idea, after all,”.

The Patch Looks Outstanding

Let’s face it. I was an advocate for the Giants to bring back their red uniforms to celebrate their 100th season in the league. But, after realizing all they were going to do was place a stylish patch on the current jerseys, it makes sense.

First, let’s address the uniform combinations. New York already has their regular home and away jerseys. Then, you have the color rush whites and the legacy blues. If they were to add a new uniform for 2024, one of the combinations would have to go (NFL only allows up to four jersey combinations). In all honesty, it would be hard to remove any one of the four.

Then, the patch itself. Looking at the details and what each little thing means, it actually is outstanding.

From the eight laces representing the number of championships to the zeroes looking like the stadium, I began to be enamored by what the Giants created. Even the shield represents something, as it is in the shape of the Giants’ first home stadium at Polo Grounds.

Not a bad look.

To make to the fans who wanted the Giants to release new jerseys and criticized them (more than I did) for not doing so, not to worry. New York has many events planned out to celebrate their 100th season in the league.

June 20th will be when the team will host a special event. There will be panel discussions about the team’s history, current players talking about the 2024 season. Appearances from legends such as Eli Manning, Tiki Barber, Tom Coughlin, and more will also occur.

On August 1st, to honor the Giants’ being founded on that date in 1925, they will visit where the Polo Grounds once stood and have a community event.

Other events include the release of 100th-season merchandise and a theme day at Yankee Stadium.

To celebrate the 18 years the Giants played at Yankee Stadium (1956-1973), which included the 1956 NFL championship, on August 4, when the New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays, the first 18,000 fans will receive an Eli Manning Yankees bobblehead featuring the 100th season logo, courtesy of Dunkin’. Prior to the game, Manning will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Throughout the game, historic Giants highlights will be played on the Yankee Stadium video board, and fans will have the opportunity to take pictures with a Giants’ Super Bowl trophy.

In Conclusion, The Giants Did A Great Job

In all, this commemorative patch wasn’t such a bad idea after all. You could argue it was better than releasing a new jersey, especially with the combinations New York already has right now.
