When the Giants drafted him in the fifth round in this past draft, it was clear what their goal was. Replacing the production of Saquon Barkley isn’t easy. So, why not take steps to get there?

Even with Devin Singletary and Eric Gray, New York felt the job wasn’t done. So, they nabbed the former Boilermaker. 2023 was his first year as a full-time running back for Tyrone Tracy Jr. However, he has shown the flashiness that has fans and the team excited for what’s to come. His power and elusiveness allows him to turn short-yardage runs into more than that. Along with his receiving abilities and return skills (third-team All-Big Ten Conference return specialist), he’s clearly an all-around weapon.

2024 Expectations

I am excited to see Tracy get on the field in the preseason. After all, he is currently the third running back on the depth chart, so it’s clear the team wants to see more from him before thrusting him into a lead role.

But, Tracy has the skills to make a name for himself in Big Blue. ESPN analyst Field Yates named the running back as one of his favorite players in the draft, explaining how his versatility could lead to early opportunities behind Singletary.

The 5’11” product was fourth in the country in yards after contact per rush, showing he is a difficult man to be brought down. When it comes to big plays, he’s a man that can be trusted. Tracy finished in the 97th percentile in explosive run rate (23.1%), which was the best in the draft class (yes, better than guys like Jonathon Brooks, Blake Corum, and others).

It’s clear Tracy is fast (4.48 40-yard dash) and can make plays in multiple ways. All of that being taken into consideration, and I expect Tracy by midseason to carve himself a significant role on the team and be not just a dependable receiving back but a 10-15 carries per game type of player.
