First Spring Training Game

With the preliminaries complete, when can baseball fans expect the first spring training game to be played? There is no need to look any further, as this Spring Training Report Dates edition has that vital information! The first official exhibition game of 2025 will be between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers in Glendale Arizona on Thursday, February 20.

Of course, the Dodgers and Cubs play before everyone else as they have to prepare for their two game series to open the season in Japan. Those are set to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 18th and 19th in Tokyo. For fantasy purposes, commissioners will have to determine if those games and the stats they generate will count. In most leagues, that will be the case. As such, it is highly advisable to hold fantasy drafts before these games occur.
