SmackDown Live comes to us tonight from inside the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska!
Roman Reign’s Repercussions
Shane McMahon kicked off SmackDown Live tonight with another Greg Hamilton introduction. He’s here, however, to talk about what Roman Reigns did to Vince McMahon last week.
WWE replayed what Reigns did last week. Shane asked who hits another man’s father like that (irony) and how disrespectful it was. He has to pay. Shane contemplated what Reign’s repercussions will be and decided that he needs to be in the ring for it.
Roman Reigns comes down to the ring to confront Shane. Both men threw their microphones down and stared each other down. Elias ran down to distract Reigns and Shane got the upper hand. The two beat down the Big Dog and laid him out.
Hopefully this won’t turn into a new Authority vs. Roman Reigns story. Elias was great in his role and it’s good to get to see him do more than just sing for once.
It was announced by Elias later in the show that it will be Roman Reigns vs. Elias at Money In The Bank (MITB)
Andrade vs. Finn Balor
Andrade defeated Balor last week on Raw. Since then, Balor was sent to SmackDown Live and and Andrade was reportedly sent to Raw, only to be sent back to SmackDown Live per request of FOX.
Balor needs to get his win back and looks to get it tonight.
The two started off hot before the commercial break. Both men went back and forth throughout the match. There was some great action here. Eventually, Zelina Vega interfered in the match, ultimately costing Andrade the match via coupe de grace from Balor.
Great match; I’m looking forward to seeing these two feud in the next few weeks.
Not So IIconic
Kairi Sane defeated one half of the WWE Woman’s Tag Team Champions, Peyton Royce in singles competition tonight.
This makes two weeks in a row the IIconics have gotten pinned by Sane. It seems obvious that Asuka & Sane will compete for the titles at MITB
Becky & Charlotte: Face to Face
Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch stood face to face in the ring for the first time since WrestleMania.
Flair complained that Lynch pinned Rousey, not her. She said that Becky can’t be the rightful SmackDown Woman’s Champion because she was never beat.
Lynch came to the ring and said that she didn’t need to beat Flair because she’s already beat her so much.
Flair thinks she’s in the man’s head. Lynch believes that she’s in Flair’s head. After MITB. Flair said she’s next in line. Becky said that people like Mickie James, Bayley, and Ember Moon should get opportunities. Flair needs to start from the bottom up. She said she’s done it eight times and will do it nine.
Bayley hit the ring and told Lynch that she’s never beat her. Flair thinks that Bayley needs to get to the back of the line. She challenged Flair to a match right now.
The two horsewoman had a solid match. This was Bayley’s first big time singles match in a while and didn’t disappoint. The finish came when Charlotte hit a huge spear for the win. Flair will get a future championship match after MITB.
This was a good segment. Every woman looked great and Becky looks like a fighting champion.
Big O Shows His True Colors
WWE Champion, Kofi Kingston alongside Xavier Woods and Big O (Kevin Owens) took on Shinsuke Nakamura in tonight’s main event.
The pair showed off their skills tonight in a solid main event match. Nakamura and Kingston countered and hit impressive moves throughout but Rusev interfered to cause the DQ.
Big O came to the rescue before turning on Kofi by hitting him with a super kick. Kevin Owens beat down Kofi and taunted him with the WWE Championship. Woods tried to help but was no help. KO stood tall on the ramp as the show ended.
Overall, this was a good episode of SmackDown Live. KO turning on the New Day was inevitable, Balor & Andrade will be a good feud and we know we’re going to get another classic match between Flair & Lynch. While I would have chosen Bayley for that spot, it didn’t take away from the story or the show as a whole.
Raw and SmackDown Live were solid shows this week. Superstars are settling into their new positions and everything is flowing smoothly at the moment.
Here’s to a great week of wrestling ahead of us!
