Gleyber Torres hits a lot of home runs. The Baltimore Orioles give up a lot of home runs. The Baltimore Orioles give up a lot of home runs to Gleyber Torres.

Since his anticipated debut last season, Gleyber Torres has become notoriously known for mashing Orioles pitching. Whether it be at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, or in Baltimore, Maryland at Camden Yards, the Yankee phenom second baseman has made it a habit to take Baltimore pitching deep at least once in a series.

If you don’t believe me, ask the Baltimore Orioles. Gleyber Torres currently has hit ten home runs during the course of the first eight weeks of the 2019 season, and eight of them have come against the O’s. Even the Orioles broadcast team on MASN has become sick and tired of Torres’ performances against their ball club, as Gary Thorne, the O’s play by play broadcaster, vented his frustrations last night after Torres turned May 20th into Gleyber Day.

“Get him out of there. Don’t throw to him. Put up four fingers. He is just tearing the Orioles apart!” Gleyber Torres has hit five home runs against Baltimore pitching in the last five days, including three home runs he hit as part of a doubleheader last Wednesday in the Bronx.

Torres launched two more ding dongs in Baltimore tonight, to help the Bronx Bombers compete for a 5-run comeback, capped off by Gary Sanchez’s go-ahead three-run home run off Mychal Givens in the top of the ninth. The Yankees have been one of the hottest teams in baseball as of late, and currently sit in first place in the American League East, at 29-17, with one of the more depleted rosters in the game, with stars like Aaron Judge (Oblique) , Giancarlo Stanton (Shoulder) and Luis Severino (Shoulder) all currently sidelined with injuries.

Gleyber now has eleven home runs, lifetime against Baltimore, to go alongside 21 runs batted in during the past year and a half, as he seems to only be getting started.

At the rate the young phenom is going, Gleyber Torres is on pace to hit at least 14 more jimmy-jacks against the birds this season, as Baltimore continues to be consistent in allowing long fly balls that land over the wall in big league ballparks.

Baltimore pitching has allowed the most home runs in baseball in 2019 thus far, allowing 94 taters through 46 games, and Gleyber Torres accounts for 8 percent of them. The way Torres swings the bat against the O’s, it makes Yankee fans everywhere wish they crossed paths with the birds more often, as Gleyber Day seems to come around much more often when the bombers and the birds get together.
