Although the event is still four months away Chase Elliott has been confirmed to return at Nitro Rallycross Arizona which takes place on November 12th and 13th.
Who Is Chase Elliott?
Chase Elliott has become a pretty well-known name in NASCAR. He’s won 17 cup series so far in his career. Chase is the son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, who was inducted in 2015. Elliott became the first rookie to win a national series championship and the youngest champion in 2014. The 26-year-old has raced every event so far this NASCAR season, taking home four wins and six podiums out of the 24 events raced thus far. Elliott also currently leads the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series.
Elliott’s First NRX Event
Chase Elliott joined Nitro Rallycross for the 2021 finale in Florida. Elliott was offered to join the event by Nitro Rallycross mastermind Travis Pastrana, which Elliott accepted. Elliott would drive the Ziprecuiter GoNitro Subaru prepared by Vermont Sportscar, which was driven by fellow NASCAR driver Kyle Busch earlier in the season. In the battle brackets Elliott would face off against Tanner Foust, Elliott originally beat Foust but after review by race officials, he was handed a five-second penalty for hitting Foust’s door. Elliott would still qualify for the finals however after winning his semi-final. Elliott would finish the event eighth, taking home 15 championship points in the process, placing him 15th in the championship standings.
Who Will He Race With?
Chase Elliott will join DRR JC, in the Group E category. Elliott will have the chance to race beside Robin Larsson and Andreas Bakkerud who have both won events this year. This year will be a different feel for Elliott as the USA rounds of the 2022-23 NRX season are expected to have larger jumps than we’ve seen so far this year, as well as having every driver on an equal playing field throughout the event.
NRX Arizona
The fifth round of the Nitro Rallycross season will take place at Wild Horses Pass in Phoenix Arizona. This is the second time an NRX event will take place here. As it took place here in 2021 as well. 2021 NRX Champion Travis Pastrana would take the win in Arizona last year, beating out rival Timmy Hansen. Kyle Busch would place fourth at the event and second in the final.
