This year’s Final Four is quite possibly the most unexpected one in history. The Miami Hurricanes, San Diego State Aztecs, UConn Huskies and Florida Atlantic (FAU) Owls are the March Madness surprises. There are two remaining five seeds, the Hurricanes and the Aztecs. Strangely enough, no five seed has ever won the national championship. Also, FAU has a chance to be the first nine seed to win the natty. These teams have a chance to make history. San Diego State, Miami and FAU all have the opportunity to win its first national title. UConn has been here before and is looking to get its fifth championship.
UConn rolling
The Miami Hurricanes take on the UConn Huskies in the Canes run to their first National Championship. UConn has looked invincible all tournament, while Miami has had its struggles at time. UConn has defeated every opponent by 15+ points and seemingly haven’t looked back since their blowout win over Iona in the round of 64. Miami, on the other hand, were trailing Drake pretty much the whole game in the first round. They were able to put it all together late in the game when they took the lead and avoided the upset.
It is a whole new game Saturday night as it does not matter if you win by one or twenty in March. The Canes have a three headed monster in the backcourt with Nijel Pack, Isiah Wong and Jordan Miller. The trio will all have to be on their A-game to defeat the red hot Huskies. This game can go either way, but look for the over 149.5 to smash. In the last five years, a team with a high ranking in the top 100 in pace according to KenPom’s rank facing a team outside the top 100 in pace has gone over all five times by a huge margin. I do not think UConn will steamroll Miami in this contest, but still ends the Hurricane’s chance to make history. My prediction is for an 88-84 victory for UConn, advancing to its fifth national championship game.
