Even though the Rockies only outscored the Astros and Yankees 23-22 they certainly out-homered them. Also, they have had solid starts from Austin Gomber, Peter Lambert, and Chase Anderson. The rotation has been a bit of a mess for the Rockies with all the injuries, but they are starting to look better. Colorado has gotten great performances from the bullpen all season and it continues in the second half. During the last eleven games, the bullpen has a collective 1.74 ERA leading the majors.
It’s been nice to see them piece together hits and runs which was a struggle for them. Each night they have many hitters get multiple hits a game. They are starting to create chemistry in the lineup which is a nice mix of veterans and young players. The Rockies are playing some good baseball in July which is historically a bad month for them.
Rockies Offensive Surge

Randal Grichuk and Nolan Jones hit some big home runs to either tie the game or win it. They are getting more hits and playing unbelievable defense in the outfield.
Also, Alan Trejo and Jurickson Profar hit some big home runs during this hot stretch. Profar has been reliable as the leadoff man finding ways to get on. While Trejo, who was sent down last month, has finally found his stride with his bat and glove. The whole lineup looks better than it did a few weeks ago. They are also playing excellent defense making some unbelievable plays.
The Rockies need to string wins together on a consistent basis. They can generate some momentum and carry into the last two months maybe play spoiler to other teams. Stay tuned for more MLB news and notes.
