The Oakland Athletics kicked off a seven-game road trip on June 10th. They head home without a single win.

Oakland was already leaving the Coliseum on a low note. They lost two of the three games against the Toronto Blue Jays before heading out to San Diego for the road trip.

The Padres Sent Them Packing Easily

Dylan Cease took the mound for the Padres in game one of the series. As for the Athletics, they sent Joey Estes to get the job done.

It looked promising at first for the A’s, as Tyler Soderstrom hit a home run in the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead.

But, that was all they mustered. The Padres offense put up six runs on A’s pitching. Home runs by Jake Cronenworth and Fernando Tatis Jr. led the way for San Diego, as they took game one 6-1.

Oakland did put up a fight in game two, scoring three runs including two in the eighth inning to tie things up. Unfortunately, the Padres had a chance to walk off on the Athletics in the bottom of the ninth.

The same situation occurred in the final game of the series. With the game tied at 4-4, Oakland called on Mason Miller to force the game into extra innings. Their opponent had other ideas.

Two heartbreaking losses, as the Athletics were swept out of Petco Park as they headed for Minnesota for a four-game series.

The Twins Had Their Way With Oakland’s Pitching

To make it short, the Twins’ offense did not disappoint against the Athletics’ pitching. Minnesota put up at least six runs in each of the four games in the series.

Minnesota’s Joe Ryan pitched seven strong innings, allowing two runs on three hits to take game one.

Then, the Athletics and Twins went into extra innings in game two. But, Oakland failed to capitalize when they got the chance, and their opponent made them pay in the bottom of the tenth.

After the third game was postponed due to rain on Saturday, a doubleheader was played on Sunday. However, it didn’t affect the Twins one bit. Carlos Correa hit two home runs, while Bailey Ober allowed just one run on six hits to win 6-2.

In the last game of the series, the Athletics put up seven runs including homers from JJ Bleday and Tyler Soderstrom. However, Minnesota’s Jose Miranda hit a game-winning home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to help the Twins sweep the Oakland A’s out of Petco Park.

Heading Back To The Coliseum

After an 0-7 road trip, the A’s look to get back in the win column starting on Tuesday. They welcome in the Kansas City Royals for a three-game set, along with the Minnesota Twins afterward.
