Ever since his return to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) back in July. Bray Wyatt has been in the middle of what could potentially become the biggest push of his promising career. With the debut of his new character, “The Fiend”, as well as the host of “Firefly Fun House”, a rather creepy version of Blues Clues.
Since returning to WWE television, Wyatt has defeated Finn Balor at WWE SummerSlam. As well attacking other superstars and legends during Monday Night Raw, all coming as “The Fiend” character. Though Wyatt is assumably set for a huge push. There is no real direction at the moment for the former “eater of worlds”.
All top talents in the business are currently in long-lasting feuds of their own with top babyfaces such as Roman Reigns currently starting his feud with the new Daniel Bryan. Kofi Kingston continuing his hot feud with Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. Seth Rollins defending his Universal Championship against his co-Tag Team Champion and partner, Braun Strowman at WWE Clash Of Champions.
Many within the WWE and millions watching at home were clamoring for a mega-matchup at WWE SummerSlam in Toronto. With Bray Wyatt’s “Fiend” character, going toe-to-toe with Finn Valor’s alter-ego, “The Demon King”.
Sure enough, the WWE Universe was disappointed in seeing that Finn Balor fought as himself at WWE SummerSlam. He has since taken a hiatus to take care of his body.
With that being said. Who will step up and take on “The Fiend” and attempt to slay the demonic creature that has wreaked havoc since returning just a few short weeks ago? Enter, Willow.
In 2017, Matt and Jeff Hardy completed one of the most shocking and exciting returns to WWE in recent memory. With their epic return at WrestleMania XXXIII at Camping World Stadium after nearly 8 years away from the business.
The Hardy’s become madly popular in Impact Wrestling (TNA) as singles competitors with Matt Hardy getting his “Broken” gimmick over rather quickly with the crowd. While Jeff attempted to channel his inner-dark side as well.
In late 2017, the “Woken” Matt Hardy (WWE chose not to use Broken) began a feud with the, then, “Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt, in what turned out to be a rather exciting feud, that culminated in a final bout taking place at “The Hardy Compound”, being Matt Hardy’s house, where Wyatt would enter to lake of reincarnation to end the feud.
At WrestleMania XXXVI in New Orleans, Bray Wyatt would make his return. Helping his former foe, Matt Hardy, win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It’s beginning a journey as a tag-team duo, capturing the RAW Tag Team Championships in the process.
Since losing the titles, Wyatt has ceased to exist on WWE programming. With Wyatt taking nearly a year to come up with his brand new persona, which has captivated thousands watching around the globe. Since losing the tag titles back in 2018. Matt Hardy has also ceased to exist from WWE programming, with the just the casual backstage cameo in pursuit of the 24/7 Championship.
Although Matt hasn’t been featured on television lately. He also happened to catch a tough break earlier in the year when he was forced to relinquish the Smackdown Tag Team Championships after his brother, Jeff, announced to the world that he needed rotator cuff surgery.
Since then, Jeff has been on the slow rehab to getting back in action. As it is safe to say, that he has the perfect opponent waiting for him when he does finally return to action.
Wyatt and Hardy already have a story. Also considering Wyatt was once involved in a heavy feud and tag team with his brother, Matt, in 2017. However, given Wyatt’s new persona, it is time for WWE to bring back another Hardy gimmick that they’ve never seen in WWE. That is Jeff Hardy’s inner-demon, “Willow”.
Willow was used by the “charismatic enigma” in Impact Wrestling as Hardy’s alter-ego, playing the heel persona for many months. Before the character was used against Jeff himself. Helping captivate the debut and heel turn of “Broken” Matt Hardy.
Bray Wyatt’s “Fiend” going up against Jeff Hardy’s “Willow” has money written all over it. With WWE only having to wait a few short months as Hardy rehabs his torn rotator cuff.
Time will only tell whether or not WWE uses Wyatt’s new persona to the best of its ability. However, as a potential Wyatt versus Hardy dream feud. Could all but be history if creative doesn’t book “The Fiend” in a high-profile feud soon.
