Every week players that you expect and some that you don’t come through with huge fantasy days. Going into week nine the question is who will be the breakout sleeper this week? It is even more important now to pick out fantasy sleepers with bye weeks in full swing.
Year-long league sleepers
Danny Amendola
After a strong week, one Amendola looked like the perfect off-season acquisitions but after a minor injury before week two Amendola has struggled to get healthy. In weeks seven and eight, Amendola finally looks like his old self with back to back eight reception games. He is not the first receiver you think of in Detroit with Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones getting most of the attention. Amendola is their main slot receiver and Matthew Stafford loves to throw to the slot. According to Pro Football Focus Amendola has the number one WR/CB advantage in week nine. He will be matchup majority of the time by Oakland Raiders LaMarcus Joyner who lines up in the slot 100 percent of the time.
Chris Conley
Coming off 103 yards and 4 reception week Conley faces off against a banged-up Texans secondary. Also, a Texans team that will be without JJ Watt. To add even more of a reason to pick him up Dede Westbrook may miss some time after suffering a neck injury last game. Conley will be covered the majority of the time by rookie Lonnie Johnson as Bradley Roby will miss this week. The Texans are bottom 5 in passing yards allowed. Conley should be a great pickup if he is still on your waiver wire.
Daily Fantasy sleepers
Jordan Howard
There is nothing I like more in fantasy than a revenge game. When a player is facing his former team there will always be more motivation going into that game. Does the narrative always hold true no but Desean Jackson week one vs the Redskins absolutely destroyed his former team and there are many other examples of this. Jordan Howard comes into week 9 facing his former team the Bears after a 96 yard 23 carry day in week eight. Howard has dominated the carries for the Eagles and with the potential injury to backup Miles Sanders, he has a real opportunity for a huge day this week. Howard has 5 TDs on the year and could be heading for more this week.
DeVante Parker
Some things are guaranteed in life. Taxes, time not stopping and the Dolphins trailing in a game. With a Dolphin team who constantly is playing from behind, there are plenty of passing opportunities and targets to go around. Parker has 10, and eight targets the last two weeks and finished with six catches vs the Steelers. This week he faces off against the Jets who are toward the bottom of the league in pass defense. Parker has eclipsed 50 yards or had a TD in seven of the eight games this year. The Dolphins have trailed in every game this year so this should be another game where they will be passing to catch up.
This deep into the season fantasy sleepers are the difference between winning your league and making money in daily contests. If you pick the right one you are well on your way to dominating your matchups this week.
