The William Jessup Warriors lost to the Westmont Warriors 77-64. William Jessup could not overcome lousy shooting in the first half. Westmont played strong defense, but William Jessup missed shots they had made in the past couple of games. Westmont’s largest lead was 16 points.
In the second half William Jessup started on an 8-0 and had Westmont’s lead down to six at one point in the, but Westmont went on to hit a three-pointer pushing the lead back up to nine, and it pretty much sealed their win.
Offensive Struggles
William Jessup struggled from the field; in the first half, they shot 7-26, which is 26.92%. Jessup managed to shoot 39% in the second half, which is not good but better than the first half. For the game, Jessup shot just 33.9.
Star Players Isaiah Milian and Luis Medearis both struggled in the game. Milan shot 1-10 and had 7 points, but he did manage nine assist and three rebounds. Medearis shot 3-12 and had 12 points while grabbing four rebounds.
Oliver Amajoyi led William Jessup in scoring with 14 points on 6-10 shooting. Amajoyi did have a few dunks in the game. Tarren Storey-Way added 10 points for Jessup.
Points In Paint
Westmont scored 38 points in the paint to William Jessup’s 24. Westmont got a lot of layups in the first half, which helped them jump out to their lead. For the Westmont shot 57% from the field, they made a concerted effort to drive the ball to the basket.
Adam Carrasco led Westmont in scoring with 20 points on 8-15 shooting from the field. Hunter Sipe added 13, and Jared Brown added 12.
The loss puts William Jessup record to 11-6 and 3-2 in the GSAC conference. Jessup head to Costa Mesa to face Vanguard in a GSAC showdown on Thursday night. Hopefully, the Warriors can get back to full strength so that they can run off some wins in a row.
