Before all the fun that was the divisional playoffs, which in my opinion is one of the best sports weekends of the year, you saw the reports that the Miami Dolphins, who don’t have a head coach yet though they pretty much know who it is, are already in full tank mode so that they could land a franchise QB in 2020. The reports say that Miami is openly admitting that they’re are “rebuilding” and that they don’t really see any QB in the 2019 draft as being someone that they want to trade picks for.

Don’t Hate it But…

I don’t hate the idea of not trading high draft picks for your franchise QB in this particular draft. Outside of possibly Haskins, we all know there isn’t anyone else worth trading a lot of picks to get them. Murray, Grier, Lock and Jones are guys that will probably go higher than they really should but that phenomena happens every year. It’s one of those it is what it is situations. So, Miami starting over is something that needs to happen and one that everyone sort of knew was going to happen. But I don’t understand why the people in the building felt it was a good idea to get information out there that is exactly what they’re going to do. Maybe, the Dolphins are playing some intense possum and they will in fact trade for a QB, or perhaps all this tank talk will get someone to covet the Dolphin’s 13th overall pick and they’ll trade a bunch for it.

Somehow the Dolphins Will Do Really Well

The Dolphins management will try and construct a team that would make Rachel Phelps proud. A team that could go out there and instead of relocating the team to Miami (which wouldn’t make much sense but sense it is Miami maybe they’ll try just that) they’ll earn one of the top picks in the draft. I don’t like the idea of losing or not doing everything you can do to win each week. Going into each week knowing you’re more than likely going to lose is an awful way to go through the week. Players won’t go for that either. But this isn’t the NBA and losing on purpose is not always easy to do. That and the fact the Dolphins traditionally zig when they should zag leads me to believe that the 2019 Miami Dolphins will be jockeying for the Super Bowl. Nothing would be more Dolphins than for them to not be able to lose on when they’re supposed too. They’ll try and throw the ball backwards and it will hit a bird and fall into the arms of one of their guys for a score. The defense will get out of the way to let a running back run by and he’ll fumble the ball into the end zone. Miami will try and just forfeit and a hurricane or snowstorm will roll in and just cancel the game. Just a ton of plays where the laws of physics get smashed is what’ll happen. So basically, I expect next year to be a combination of Major League and Angels in the End Zone. There will be all types of weird sound effects going on and everyone will just be looking around at how Albert Wilson used a football as surf board and landed on top of the goal post. All kinds of hi jinx is what you’re going to get as the Dolphins march towards a title blowing up the plans of the evil Miami management. I don’t know if anyone will learn a lesson at the end, but I do know that it’s going to be fun entertainment for the whole family.
