Who is needed the most? Rousey or Banks?
Since WrestleMania 35, a significant presence has been missing from the women’s division. The roster took a hit when Ronda Rousey, who was recovering from a broken hand, and Sasha Bank decided to take time away from the WWE. The absence of these superstars could be considered as a factor into the ‘setback’ of the Women’s Revolution. With Summer winding down and Smackdown set to premiere on Fox in the fall; rumors have been circulating as to when these ladies will make their return. While we don’t know who will come back first, the major question is. Which superstar does WWE need the most? Well, let’s break it down!
The Baddest Woman on the Planet
The roof nearly exploded at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly when Ronda Rousey made her first WWE appearance at the end of the 2018, Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Her signing with the company made major headlines with news outlets. Rousey’s fame from her time with the UFC carried over and brought eyes to the WWE as well as the women’s division. She would later go on to have her debut match at WrestleMania 34 along with WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Rousey later on won the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam that summer. Rousey’s biggest accomplishment came this last April. She main evented WrestleMania 35 along with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. Since her arrival, Ronda Rousey has become a cornerstone of the women’s division.
The Legit Boss
Sasha Banks first made a name for herself in NXT as of the ‘WWE’s Four Horsewomen along with Flair, Lynch, and Bayley. Her debut in 2015 helped spark the Women’s Revolution on the main roster. Banks has been part of monumental moments in the women’s division with two Ironwoman matches, Hell in a Cell (which was also the first time a women’s match main-evented a pay-per-view). Banks became one-half of the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions along with Bayley. Her personality and confidence in the ring and in front of the camera have made Sasha Banks one of the most popular superstars among fans of all ages.
The fans weigh in
A recent Twitter poll showed that 71% of fans believe that WWE and the women’s division needs Sasha Banks the most. If they are brought back into the right situation; and with a good storyline both women can help bring the spotlight back to the women’s division.
