All Elite Wrestling (AEW) rejuvenated the pro wrestling world back in May with its first Pay-Per-View event, “Double Or Nothing”. Why Chris Jericho AEW championship match with Cody Rhodes is biggest all elite Wrestling showdown to date.
An event in which wrestling fans witnessed a five-star classic between two brothers, a showdown between two of the top performers in the business. A shocking debut that left MGM Grand Arena shaking to its very core.
This set up arguably an even bigger Pay-Per-View event at the end of August called “ALL OUT” where the wrestling world almost got to pay witness to Kenny Omega versus Jon Moxley for the first time ever before the former Dean Ambrose went down with an elbow injury.
Despite the co-main event being switched. AEW crowned it’s first-ever World Champion at Sears Centre on August 31st. As the self-proclaimed “Pain-maker” Chris Jericho defeated a valiant Adam “Hangman” Page in the main event, to capture the 7th World Championship of his illustrious career.
With AEW’s biggest Pay-Per-View event to date, “ALL OUT” from Chicago, Illinois in the books, All Elite Wrestling continues to strive for greatness with their next biggest draw, as two of the top talents on the roster will go head to head for the gold on Saturday, November 9th.
The two men have squared off before in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). However, it was not held nearly as important with Jericho serving as a part-time draw. While WWE slowly phased Rhodes down in the mid-card.
Chris Jericho going head to head with Cody could potentially be AEW’s masterpiece. If booked right by the two men. AEW is quickly becoming recognized for their ability to give their talent freedom when it comes to creating their storylines and promos.
Before the two men face off in November. AEW will be going live every Wednesday night on TNT starting on October 2nd.
This will give Jericho and Rhodes plenty of opportunity to promote an exciting story heading into their important clash. As Jericho defends his title for the first time.
Since signing with AEW back in January. Jericho has been claiming to be the reason for the company’s short success as to this point. Saying that everyone in the company, as well as everyone watching at home, owes him a thank you (storyline).
On the road to Double Or Nothing Episode 15. Jericho and Cody seemed to be at odds. As “The Alpha” claimed that Cody’s father, the “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes had promised to push him to the moon back in the day. But he lied, provoking Cody to give him his deserved “thank you”.
AEW fans will have to wait and see what Jericho and Cody have in store when AEW goes live on TNT on October 2nd.
If booked correctly, this could be AEW’s masterpiece, with the company’s Executive Vice President challenging the company’s greatest villain.
