AEW Dynamite is set to make its weekly tv debut tonight on TNT live from inside a sold out Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.! The Wednesday night wars have begun.
Cody vs. Sammy Guevara
The match that’ll be kicking off AEW Dynamite is between Cody and Sammy Guevara. Cody is one of the faces of the company, an EVP of AEW, and the number one contender for the AEW World title. Guevara is a young guy with experience in places like Mexico and all over the American independent circuit. He’s also got a YouTube vlog that’s pretty popular.
Cody has a lot on his plate right now. Running a company, and having to prepare for a world championship match against Chris Jericho next month at Full Gear. He’s said it himself, he shouldn’t be looking past Sammy, but he is.
In a company where wins and losses matter, this could be a huge opportunity for Sammy to pull off a major upset, and put himself on Chris Jericho’s radar.
PAC vs Hangman Page
The match that was supposed to happen back in May, PAC vs Hangman Page is a grudge match that we’ve wanted to see in an AEW ring for months. Page is coming off a loss at All Out against Chris Jericho in the inaugural AEW championship match, while PAC is coming off possibly the biggest win of his career, submitting Kenny Omega at All Out.
Page needs a win here to keep his hopes of a rematch with Jericho in the near future alive. PAC is sitting at 1-0 in AEW and doesn’t look to slow down tonight.
Jon Moxley
This is a must watch segment for AEW Dynamite. An open mic will be given to the former Dean Ambrose tonight. AEW’s tagline in all of their commercials is Moxley’s quote, “This industry needs a facelift”. Moxley’s here to deliver just that to the pro wrestling world, and it starts tonight.
Since leaving WWE, Moxley has become one of the biggest names in wrestling. Showing up at Double or Nothing, debuting for New Japan and winning the IWGP U.S. championship in his first night, and he almost won his G1 block in this years G1 Climax, the most grueling tournament in pro wrestling.
AEW Woman’s Inaugural Woman’s championship match
Nyla Rose vs Riho will be your typical David vs Goliath matchup. Riho is at a huge size disadvantage and Rose will abuse that situation. Riho’s joshi style will help her get around that, but size matters.
This will be an interesting match and could see it going both ways.
The Elite vs Chris Jericho & Santana & Ortiz
The main event of the first ever episode of AEW Dynamite. Last night on TNT, Jericho announced that his partners will be the former LAX, Santana & Ortiz. With Jericho being AEW champion, and Santana & Ortiz being one of the best tag teams in the world, The Elite have their work cut out for them.
The Elite on the other hand, are 3/4 of the EVP’s of AEW. They’re also the best in ring trio in the world today. Kenny Omega, the best bout machine, and the Young Bucks, who many consider the best tag team on the planet right now.
Omega has gone on a losing streak as of late. He’s lost to PAC and Chris Jericho in recent months and on Being the Elite the past few weeks, has looked like he’s lost his mind. That could play a major factor in the outcome of this bout tonight.
