College basketball season is quickly approaching, which means there is a lot of top-notch incoming freshman ready to make a name for themselves. Every year it is a freshman that is slated to be the top pick of the NBA draft and many other top freshmen to follow.
James Wiseman 7-1 240 Memphis
Coach Penny Hardway hit it big with landing the nation’s top recruit James Wiseman. He is a Center that can run the floor, pass, and grab the rebounds and take it coast-to-coast. Wiseman is left-handed and can shoot the ball from outside and has a nice touch. Wiseman will be fun to watch this season under Hardaway’s tutor ledge.
Cole Anthony 6-3 185 North Carolina
Cole Anthony is a well-rounded guard who will fill in nicely for Coby White, who left for the NBA. Anthony has a great first step and is explosive off the dribble. He is an attacking point guard that can pass the ball and defend as well.
Anthony Edwards 6-5 225 Georgia
Edwards can score the basketball he averaged 29 points per game in his senior season in high school. Edwards has so much natural talent and is a strong combo guard who can probably play some stretch four for the Bulldogs. The former Atlanta school star is the highest-rated recruit to ever sign with Georgia.
Isaiah Stewart 6-9 240 Washington
Stewart is strong in the post and has impressive footwork on the block. Stewart has the potential to score inside and rebound right away with shot-blocking ability as well. The Washington freshman also plays with tremendous intensity. It should be a fun season in Washington with him and another incoming freshman Jaden McDaniels.
Vernon Carey 6-10 270 Duke
Carey gives the Duke Blue Devils an intimidating presence to build the team around. Carey is mobile for his size and can score from 15 feet out. Also, he has solid feet and a good feel for the game in the post. Duke coaches will need to work with him on getting a good post position. The Blue Devils will look to be an inside out team.
