Well, they did it again. Some way, some how, WWE managed to get the finish to a hell in a cell match wrong for the second year in a row.

Last fall, Roman Reigns battled Braun Strowman for the Universal strap inside the cell, ending in total caos, as The Shield (Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose), Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar all got involved, resulting in a “no-contest” finish.

When the “Hell In A Cell” match was created, it was meant to instill fear into it’s competitors, as the rules for the unsanctioned match entails that there are no disqualifications.

Last year’s “no contest” finish was bad, but this year’s Hell In A Cell match finish between Seth Rollins and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt was pitiful.

Since returning to WWE during the summer, WWE has booked Bray Wyatt strong, being a happy-go lucky children’s show host by day, and an unstoppable demon by night, but at Hell In A Cell, Bray Wyatt was booked to fail.

Throughout the entire match, Wyatt was booked as an unstoppable force, getting up from each attack that Seth Rollins had laid out, including six curb stomps and a pedigree.

But then, WWE decided to take it to a whole other level, by having The Fiend take a chair shot to the head, a ladder shot to the head, a tool box shot with a ladder and chair on top of his head, finished off with a sledgehammer to the head, before WWE ruined everyone’s night.

After the sledgehammer shot to Wyatt’s skull, the referee called for the bell, which resulted in the loudest boos in a WWE Arena since, well, Monday Night Raw.

The referee called for stoppage in the match, due to Seth Rollins beating Bray Wyatt senseless with every object under the ring, resulting in medical personnel rushing to the ring after the cell had been raised.

Not only does this make Wyatt look terrible, but makes the whole “Hell In A Cell” concept null and void, as the supposed “hellish” structure was made foolish when the WWE official called for the bell.

When Rollins stood over Wyatt after the match, it was obvious what was going to happen. Wyatt rose to his feet, catching Rollins in the mandible claw, and choking out the Universal Champion as the screen faded to black.

The WWE Universe was not holding anything back as the Pay-Per-View came to an end, chanting “A-E-W”, “Restart Match!” and “This is Bull-S***” leaving the Arena in Sacramento, California.

If WWE wanted to book this correctly, they should’ve booked a no-contest; putting The Fiend as the competitor going to far, striking Rollins with an unmercifully attack, sending Rollins home on a stretcher, not the other way around.

WWE has now pitted themselves into a corner with Wyatt’s character, after having him kick out at one, after six total curb-stomps and a pedigree, as they will have no choice but to push The Fiend to the moon.

WWE also tried to explain the finish as a match “stoppage”, staying away from the word “disqualification”, as that rule does not pertain to the rules of a normal “Hell In A Cell” match.

It’ll be interesting to see how Bray Wyatt is booked in the coming weeks, with the WWE Draft set to take place on Friday Night SmackDown on October 11th, and Monday Night RAW on October 14th.

With the bizarre finish on Sunday, WWE now has the option of moving Wyatt to SmackDown where FOX has big plans for the character, or keeping The Fiend on Monday nights, where he can continue his pursuit of Seth Rollins and the Universal title.
