Welcome back, everyone! Every team gets a bye week, and mine was last week. Don’t worry though, I’m here to help fantasy owners in crunch time. Week 10 is the last chance for 2-week playoff leagues, and the start of stretch run for regular leagues. So this week, it’s time to make those money moves to get everyone into their fantasy playoffs. There are plenty of sleeper options to choose from this week, and there are some players that you should definitely stay away from. Let’s take a look at this week start them NFL Week 10.
Once you get into the playoffs, anyone can win their league. But you have to get there first! Let’s do this!
Quarterbacks: Daniel Jones, Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford
Daniel Jones owners may be a little concerned with the number of turnovers he’s had so far, but it’s not as bad as it seems. Being aggressive at the end of a half and attempting to gain extra yards when your team is down late are acceptable reasons for a young player. Compare that to Jameis Winston who is just making awful decisions with the ball and being downright careless. Jones gets the Jets this week, and he should have a nice chunk of points for your playoff push. Kyler Murray is going up against that aforementioned Bucs team that seems to have little to no interest in playing defense. I’ll give the Cardinals credit, they came into the year ready to lock up a top 10 pick.
But they’re surprisingly competitive and going for every win they can. Murray’s legs, security blanket in Fitzgerald, and dangerous Andy Isabella (get to know him folks) should lead to a great fantasy line. Matt Stafford has been incredibly underrated for the entire fantasy season. He’s QB6. Yes, Really. He’s also 2nd in touchdowns (19) and 4th in passing yards (2499).
I also understand that he’s going against the Bears this week. Chicago is one more bad game from breaking completely, and this is the game to do it. He’s got the big body receiver in Kenny Golladay, and the underneath option in Marvin Jones. Their lack of running game doesn’t matter, because Detroit hasn’t tried to run the ball consistently since Barry Sanders. Don’t get scared off from starting Stafford.
Running Backs: Devin Singletary, David Montgomery, Todd Gurley
I have been waiting the entire season to see Singletary and Montgomery both shine so I can include them in this section! Devin Singletary was finally showcased last week, and he made the most of it. He piled up 140 all-purpose yards and a touchdown and looked phenomenal doing it. I understand it was against a terrible Redskins team. But it’s a very repeatable stat line for Week 10 as they take on an equally dysfunctional Browns team.
Look for Singletary to get double-digit touches and another score. As for David Montgomery, he was also finally showcased and he also made the most of it. The fact Mike Davis was even given the time of day in the Chicago backfield is beyond me, and having Tarik Cohen in on the goal line was equally asinine. The Bears are realizing that Trubisky is terrible (along with sportsbooks refunding MVP wagers on Trubisky) and Montgomery can become the workhorse. The key to winning for Chicago is running the ball, dominating time of possession, and leaning on their defense.
Montgomery should have a great day against Detroit. Todd Gurley has been…less than ideal this year. However, he’s coming off a bye week and going against a struggling Pittsburgh team. Given that the Rams are in a must-win mode in a crowded NFC playoff picture. They should get Gurley involved early and often in their Week 10 game. I wouldn’t be surprised if McVay finds some creative ways to get him back into the endzone once or twice.
Pass Catchers: Zach Pascal, Tyler Boyd, Stefon Diggs, Jonnu Smith (TE)
Zach Pascal is going to be the leading target for the Colts until Hilton comes back, and that may not be for a while. He’s an underneath type of receiver, but Indianapolis loves targeting him in the red zone. If they’re not running the ball with Marlon Mack, they’re generally looking in his direction for the rest of the drive. Oh, and did I mention he’s playing the Dolphins? (They forfeited their Tanks title to the Jets last week, so…congrats…I guess) Tyler Boyd is set to resume his leading role in the Bungles offense, featuring no A.J. Green and a brand new starting quarterback.
Don’t be scared away by the thought of Ryan Finley starting, he actually looked great in the preseason. He threw 3 touchdowns and only 1 interception, so he should look at the very least capable. Boyd will be his security blanket, so his PPR stat line will look fabulous. Stefon Diggs is going to be incredibly frustrated after the Vikings loss to Kansas City, and angry Diggs is what fantasy owners want. With Adam Thielen hobbled by a nagging hamstring injury, he should be the leading target against the Cowboys in Week 10, who are more than willing to give up big passing plays. Jonnu Smith was a blip on the fantasy radar last year and is starting to make a reemergence in 2019.
He’s going up against an improved. But still struggling, Chiefs defense this week and is a safe red zone target for Ryan Tannehill. I wouldn’t be shocked if he outscores his ownage percentage this week.
That was this week start them NFL week 10.
