Who remembers when before the start of the regular season that people were claiming the Cleveland Browns as AFC North Champions and maybe potential Super Bowl Champions? The Cleveland Browns are a dumpster fire.
Well, they lost once again on the road on Sunday against the Denver Broncos by a score of 24-19. This is a game that Cleveland should have won.
This was Brandon Allen’s first career start for Denver with Joe Flacco on injured reserve with a neck injury.
The Broncos defense made some big plays late in the game. Denver was 2-6 entering this game. Not many people thought they were going to be good this season anyways.
As for the Browns, what do they do now?
Cleveland is now 2-6 on the year and life is not going to get easier for them even if the schedule says no. This team has folded big-time with high expectations.
Freddie Kitchens is not a very good head coach. They should have kept him as the offensive coordinator and Gregg Williams should have been kept as the head coach after he was named the interim head coach after Hue Jackson was fired in the middle of the year last season.
Baker Mayfield has been a mess this season and he was so much better during his rookie season.
So far this season, Mayfield has completed 159-of-271 passes for 1,963 yards seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has also rushed for 75 yards on 12 carries and a score.
During his rookie season, Baker Mayfield started in 13 games and he appeared in 14 games last season. Mayfield completed 310-of-486 passes for 3,725 yards 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
He also rushed for 131 yards on 39 carries last season.
Nick Chubb has been the best player on the offensive side of the ball for Cleveland so far this season. He has rushed for 803 yards on 154 carries and six touchdowns. Chubb has also caught 25 passes for 161 yards receiving.
Kareem Hunt will be returning from his eight-game suspension. We will see how Head Coach Freddie Kitchens adjusts to that.
Odell Beckham Jr. has caught 39 passes for 575 yards receiving and one touchdown so far this season.
Jarvis Landry has caught 36 passes for 555 yards and one touchdown so far this season.
David Njoku has been on injured reserve since Week 2. He has caught four passes for 37 yards receiving so far this season.
This team has had issues on the offensive line. They have not been very good at forcing turnovers this season either.
I don’t understand what is going on here, but it is not working.
The Cleveland Browns remaining schedule will be against the Buffalo Bills (6-2) at home in Week 10, against the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-4) in Week 11 at home on a Thursday night, against the Miami Dolphins (1-7) in Week 12 at home, against the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-4) on the road in Week 13, against the Cincinnati Bengals (0-8) at home in Week 14, against the Arizona Cardinals (3-5-1) on the road in Week 15, against the Baltimore Ravens (6-2) at home in Week 16, and against the Cincinnati Bengals (0-8) on the road in Week 17.
This team may finish no better than 5-11. It is very possible they get swept to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I would not be surprised to see this team get a Top 10 NFL Draft pick once again and that is how pathetic they have been.
Jermaine Whitehead has been cut from the team after making threats on Twitter to people and reporters after the loss.
Odell Beckham Jr. has been complaining about not getting the football.
He and Jarvis Landry were almost suspended for the second-half yesterday due to an NFL equipment issue with the cleats.
This team is a mess from top to bottom and they have not made it to the playoffs since 2002. The Cleveland Browns are the Cleveland Browns for a reason and some things never change. The Cleveland Browns are a dumpster fire.
