On Sunday afternoon the Bulls played against Idaho and Idaho had control for most of the game. The fourth quarter approached and USF was on a mission. That mission was to come back and win the game. The back to back threes from Maria Alvarez got the win for the Bulls. USF took the W 67-64.
Maria Alvarez Lethal Weapon
The freshman sensation has done it all and Sunday wasn’t any different. Maria played for 37 minutes and can basically play for days with her energy haha. She went 4-9 from the field and 4-7 from the beyond the arc. Not her best day shooting wise but Maria is the Bulls’ lethal weapon. She is an incredible teammate and is willing to do the little things that will help her team win. Maria finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists.
Alvarez doesn’t shy away from big moments. Not her best game but she manages to get it done in clutch moments. Back to back threes from Alvarez got the win for the Bulls.

Fourth Quarter Magic
Maria wasn’t the only one to contribute in this huge win; her teammates helped along the way. A couple of players like Kristyna Brabencova finished with 11 boards and Tamara Henshaw with 12 boards. What helped the Bulls win was crashing the boards. USF finished with 51 total rebounds compared to Idaho’s 30 total rebounds. Also, the Bulls managed to get to the free-throw line more than Idaho. The Bulls finish from the line 19-25.
Alvarez played her best basketball in the fourth quarter alone. She finished with 12 points and was perfect from long-range and field goal (4-4 ) and played for 10 minutes. With 13 total rebounds and 17 total points as a team that was some fourth-quarter magic for the Bulls. Thanks to Alvarez the Bulls went 50% from the 3PT.
What an experience and fun game to have witnessed. To witness such greatness in Maria Alvarez and how much basketball she has left in her tank. It still amazes me that she is only a freshman and has a stellar career ahead of her.
Up next for the Bulls is Mississippi State Thursday, Dec, 19 at 7 PM ET. Make sure to tune in for that one.
