The 2020 NFL draft was a wild ride. From the picks that no one saw coming, to seeing Roger Goodell fighting to stay awake on national television, I loved almost every minute of it. Some teams gave their fans lots to be excited about, and others left their fans in frustration and confusion. This 2020 NFL Draft recap will let you know whether your front office set your team up for success, or whether your front office sent your team straight to the flaming pits of Loserville, where there is nothing but agony and defeat.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Cincinnati Bengals
Biggest steal: Tee Higgins
Biggest reach: None
The Bengals were really bad last year. Like, really, really bad. But it’s drafts like these that can get your team back on track. Joe Burrow is fantastic. He is smart, he is athletic enough to escape the pocket, and his deep ball accuracy is ridiculous. There is no doubt in my mind that the Bengals got their quarterback of the future. I was not expecting Higgins to drop to the second round. He will be a good third option in Cincinnati’s offense. Plus, they got two solid linebackers in Logan Wilson and Akeem Davis-Gaither. Bengals fans have a lot to be excited about.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Washington Redskins
Biggest Steal: Antonio Gandy-Golden
Biggest Reach: Antonio Gibson
The Redskins must have a thing for wide receivers named Antonio. I really like the Gandy-Golden pick, but they reached on the Gibson pick. Quite honestly, I think Gandy-Golden is better despite being drafted after Gibson. Chase Young is the best player from this year’s draft. He’s a beast. I’m pretty neutral on the Redskins draft as a whole. If the offensive linemen they drafted can develop into solid players then this class could be a successful one for Washington.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Detroit Lions
Biggest Steal: D’Andre Swift
Biggest Reach: Jeff Okudah
Before everyone orders for me to be executed for calling Okudah a reach, hear me out. I love Okudah as a player, and he could end up being the third-best player in this draft. But, if you are the third-worst team in the NFL, how much is a good cornerback really going to help? Plus, the Lions probably could’ve traded back, grabbed some draft picks, and still gotten Okudah. That being said, I like the Swift pick. Their running game with Kerryon Johnson and D’Andre Swift could be scary. It would be scarier with a first-round offensive tackle though. I like what they did in rounds three and four, but their picks after that didn’t make much sense. The Lions could’ve done better.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: New York Giants
Biggest Steal: Darnay Holmes
Biggest Reach: Andrew Thomas
The Giants drafted really well for the most part. The only thing I’m confused about is why they didn’t draft a single wide receiver. Thomas was a solid pick, but I think Jedrick Wills will be the better player. The Giants did a good job of beefing up their secondary with Holmes and Xavier McKinney, who was another steal. New York overall drafted really well, but other than Barkley and Engram, who does Daniel Jones have to throw to?
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Miami Dolphins
Biggest Steal: Curtis Weaver/ Tua Tagovailoa
Biggest Reach: Noah Igbinoghene
The Miami Dolphins must be trying to punish the guys who put the names on the back of the jerseys. Tua was the right pick at number five, and I wouldn’t have faulted the Dolphins for trading up for him. He is the second-best quarterback in this year’s draft, but he is much closer to Joe Burrow than he is to Justin Herbert. Weaver was an absolute steal in the fifth round, and they got offensive line help. I really like what the Dolphins did here, and I think they have a really exciting future in Miami.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Los Angeles Chargers
Biggest Steal: K.J. Hill
Biggest Reach: Justin Herbert
I understand that when you find your guy, sometimes you have to reach, but Herbert is definitely not a top 10 talent. When I see Herbert, I see an average quarterback. There just isn’t anything special about him. However, Kenneth Murray is a monster, and I loved that draft pick. Joe Reed will add explosiveness to the offense and special teams, and K.J. Hill in the seventh round will give Herbert a security blanket from the slot. This was a good draft for the most part, but the Chargers will never win a Super Bowl with Herbert being the star.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Carolina Panthers
Biggest Steal: Jeremy Chinn
Biggest Reach: None
The Panthers didn’t draft a single offensive player, but who needs more offense when you have Christian McCaffrey? The Panthers drafted a lot of defensive players, and they got a lot of good ones. Derrick Brown is a big man, and a force to be reckoned with. Yetur Gross-Matos has the potential to be an elite pass rusher. Chinn can be used as a defensive back or linebacker all over the field. I could go on and on about this draft class. The Panthers could be an exciting team in the near future.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Arizona Cardinals
Biggest Steal: Josh Jones
Biggest Reach: Rashard Lawrence
When the Cardinals drafted Isaiah Simmons, the only thing I was worried about was the offensive line. When they were then able to draft Jones in the third round, that was huge. Evan Weaver and Eno Benjamin could both be solid players, too. The Cardinals got DeAndre Hopkins from their draft picks and were able to draft well with their remaining picks. Cardinals fans have a lot to be excited about.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Jacksonville Jaguars
Biggest Steal: Laviska Shenault Jr.
Biggest Reach: DaVon Hamilton
The Jaguars knocked this draft out of the park through the first four rounds. They got a lockdown cornerback in C.J. Henderson to replace Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye. Then, they drafted K’Lavon Chaisson with the 20th pick, which was a steal. Shenault is one of my favorite players in this year’s draft. He can do it all, and he can line up all over the field. This is not a popular opinion, but I have him as the fourth-best receiver in the class. The Jaguars are a couple more good drafts away from becoming a good team again.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Cleveland Browns
Biggest Steal: Donovan Peoples-Jones
Biggest Reach: Jacob Phillips
The Browns must have been jumping up and down in their homes when they could draft Jedrick Wills at pick number 10 without trading up. With the offensive line being their biggest need, it was just about perfect for them that the best offensive tackle in the draft fell to them. Grant Delpit in the second round was also a good value pick. The only reach in this draft was Phillips, but at least he filled a need. The Browns once again had a very solid offseason. Let’s see what they can do during the season this time.
2020 NFL Draft Picks: New York Jets
Biggest Steal: Bryce Hall
Biggest Reach: James Morgan
Being able to grab Mekhi Becton with their first-round pick was a great start to the draft for the Jets. Denzel Mims at the end of the second round was another great move, as wide receiver was a glaring need especially since they have a young quarterback. Morgan was the only head-scratching move. If they wanted a backup quarterback they could’ve either waited, or they could’ve drafted Jake Fromm, who is definitely better than Morgan. However, I like what the Jets did in the draft to help out Sam Darnold.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Las Vegas Raiders
Biggest Steal: Amik Robertson
Biggest Reach: Damon Arnette/ Tanner Muse
The Raiders have a decent draft class, but when you see what they could’ve ended up with, it’s a little disappointing. Henry Ruggs is good but wasn’t the best receiver available. Arnette is tough and competitive but wasn’t close to the best cornerback available, and I saw Muse as a good late-round sleeper, not a third-rounder. Robertson was a good snag in the fourth round, but overall when you compare what they could’ve had to what they have, it’s a little confusing.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Biggest Steal: Tyler Johnson
Biggest Reach: Ke’Shawn Vaughn
The Buccaneers started off the draft on a high note grabbing Tristan Wirfs in the first. Protecting Tom Brady is the most important thing for Tampa, and Wirfs is a great tackle. Antoine Winfield, Jr. is one of the better safeties in the class, and the Buccaneers were able to draft him in the second. After that however, it wasn’t so good. Johnson and Raymond Calais were both good value picks, but the Vaughn pick was weird considering who was still available. The Bucs other draft picks weren’t great. It was an up and down draft for Tampa.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: San Francisco 49ers
Biggest Steal: Brandon Aiyuk
Biggest Reach: None
With the few draft picks that they had, the 49ers did a pretty solid job. They were able to acquire a fourth-round pick and still get the guy they wanted in Javon Kinlaw. The 49ers drafted Aiyuk at a decent value, and with his run after catch ability will flourish in Kyle Shanahan‘s offense. The 49ers should compete for a Super Bowl once again as long as they don’t regress.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Denver Broncos
Biggest Steal: Lloyd Cushenberry
Biggest Reach: Albert Okwuegbunam ( I had to spell check this like 7 times.)
Drew Lock has lots of shiny new toys to play with. Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, KJ Hamler, and Noah Fant? Lock must be the happiest guy in football. Cushenberry is great value in the third round, and Netane Muti is great value in the sixth. The Broncos could have the most young talent on offense in the NFL. Lock has no excuse not to be in the top half of NFL quarterbacks this coming year, and if he’s not it’s time to find someone else. The Broncos could be a scary team soon.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Atlanta Falcons
Biggest Steal: Matt Hennessy
Biggest Reach: A.J. Terrell
I’m not a huge fan of the Falcons draft class. Terrell isn’t a bad cornerback, but there were better guys available. I understand that the Raiders wanted Terrell at pick 19, but that would’ve been a bad pick too, so that doesn’t justify the pick. Hennessy is a solid pick, especially in the third round, but that’s just about all I’ve got. I don’t think the draft made Atlanta much better, but I guess we shall see.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Dallas Cowboys
Biggest Steal: Bradlee Anae
Biggest Reach: Reggie Robinson II
The Cowboys clearly want to keep Dak Prescott happy. They are now paying Cooper top wide receiver money, they are paying Zeke top running back money, have one of the best offensive lines in the league, and have two young star receivers in CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup. The only problem is that Dak still isn’t paid, Gallup and Lamb will want to be paid in the near future, and I still don’t think they’ve done enough to shore up their defense. That being said, they had a very solid draft, and their offense will be really difficult to stop this year if Prescott and the Cowboys can agree on a contract.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Philadelphia Eagles
Biggest Steal: K’Von Wallace
Biggest Reach: Jalen Hurts
The Hurts pick really hurts many fans’ views on this draft. Pun intended. However, I really like what Philly did with the rest of the draft. The Eagles have desperately needed explosiveness and speed at all positions, but especially offense. And what did they do? They brought in a lot of speed and explosiveness. Jalen Reagor is really fun to watch, and is a touchdown threat every time he touches the ball. Davion Taylor is an athletic freak who is just a little raw. Wallace is a second-round talent who fell to the fourth round. Then the Eagles brought in offensive line depth and even more speed at receiver. The Eagles are big-time contenders if they stay healthy. The Eagles and Cowboys games are going to be fun to watch this year.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Minnesota Vikings
Biggest Steal: Ezra Cleveland
Biggest Reach: James Lynch
The Vikings nailed this draft. Justin Jefferson at pick 22 is good value, and Jeff Gladney is better than both A.J. Terrell and Damon Arnette who were picked before him. Cleveland was a potential first-round pick who they were able to draft at the end of the second. Cameron Dantzler and Troy Dye are both potential starters for the defense as well, and they didn’t have any major reaches. The Vikings should be considered the frontrunners in their division now.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: New Orleans Saints
Biggest Steal: Zack Baun
Biggest Reach: None
Despite only having three draft picks before the seventh round, I believe that the Saints drafted three future starters. Cesar Ruiz is the best interior offensive lineman in the class, and protecting your quarterback is so important for teams with older guys at that position. I’m not sure why Baun was still available in the third round. He was easily the best player on the board when the Saints drafted him. Adam Trautman is the second-best tight end in the class and also has a shot at being a solid starter. The Saints are once again Super Bowl contenders.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Green Bay Packers
Biggest Steal: Jon Runyan, Jr.
Biggest Reach: Just about everyone else
I guess the Packers don’t like winning. I would’ve been fine with the Jordan Love pick if they hadn’t have traded up, and if they would’ve told the face of their franchise before doing so. What were they thinking?! Then they over drafted a running back when they already had Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. And what did they do to help Aaron Rodgers? Nothing! I look at their draft class and see no one that will make an impact on their team this year. Congratulations, Packers! You officially pissed off every fan your team has ever had, and one of the best players you’ve ever had, all in the span of three days!
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Seattle Seahawks
Biggest Steal: Damien Lewis
Biggest Reach: Jordyn Brooks
I like Brooks as a player. I don’t like at all where the Seahawks drafted him. Brooks is good, but you had Patrick Queen right there. Darrell Taylor was a reach, too. Again, he’s not a bad player, but I’m not sure why the Seahawks drafted these guys so early in the draft. I like the Lewis pick, especially for a team that likes to run as much as they do. But for the most part, it just seems like everyone they drafted was a bit of a reach. Even with a poor draft, I still think the Seahawks are Super Bowl contenders.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Baltimore Ravens
Biggest Steal: Patrick Queen/ James Proche
Biggest Reach: Broderick Washington
The Ravens are known for always having an elite middle linebacker, whether it’s Ray Lewis or C.J. Mosley. They just got their next one in Patrick Queen. Queen is an athletic freak with elite cover skills, which is perfect for the modern-day linebacker. J.K. Dobbins in the Ravens offense will also be really fun to watch, and the Ravens also got quality players in the rounds after that as well. The Ravens once again will finish with one of the top records in the league, and they will go as far as Lamar Jackson will take them.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Tennessee Titans
Biggest Steal: Kristian Fulton
Biggest Reach: Larrell Murchison
Isaiah Wilson is huge, and a really good run blocker, so I love the fit there. If you run it 40 times a game, you might as well get guys who fit that scheme. How guys like A.J. Terrell and Damon Arnette went in the first round, and Fulton dropped to the late second is confusing to me. But I’m sure the Titans aren’t complaining, especially since Logan Ryan is still a free agent. Darrynton Evans is a good pick to give Derrick Henry some time to take a breather. The Titans running game may be even better this year, which is pretty scary.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Kansas City Chiefs
Biggest Steal: Willie Gay Jr.
Biggest Reach: Michael Danna
I can’t wait to watch the defensive back combo of L’Jarius Sneed and Thakarius Keyes in the preseason. I’ve never seen two names so unique yet so similar on the same team. Joking aside, I really like the Chiefs first three picks. Clyde Edwards-Helaire will fit in the Chiefs offense like a glove with his versatility, and Gay and Lucas Niang both have high potential. However, I think they should have addressed their defensive backfield earlier and more often than they did. I’m excited to see what CEH can add to the most explosive offense in the league.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Indianapolis Colts
Biggest Steal: Jacob Eason
Biggest Reach: Robert Windsor
The Colts did a really good job of making their team better for this year and making their future brighter. Michael Pittman would be a first-rounder if this year’s receiver class wasn’t so strong, and Jonathan Taylor is arguably the best running back in the class. Eason has a legitimate chance to be the Colts franchise quarterback and they got him in the fourth round. He will learn a lot behind Philip Rivers. The Colts are a sleeper team to make the playoffs this year.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: New England Patriots
Biggest Steal: Josh Uche
Biggest Reach: Justin Rohrwasser/ Dalton Keene
On one hand, I don’t like the Patriots draft. On the other hand, who am I to question Bill Belichick and the Patriots? Kyle Dugger is a good player, but I like guys like Delpit, Winfield, and Jeremy Chinn better. I thought it was really strange that they traded up for a tight end not once, but twice. I also found it really strange that they drafted a kicker that no one had ever heard of in the fifth round. However, it feels so wrong to call Belichick wrong, so I’ll wait to see what happens before calling this a fail.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Houston Texans
Biggest Steal: Ross Blacklock
Biggest Reach: Charlie Heck
I think I’d be much higher on this draft for the Texans if they hadn’t have traded away Hopkins for just Ross Blacklock and David Johnson. I thought Blacklock was a steal at pick 40, and they got a good edge rusher in the third round with Jonathan Greenard. But what the (Charlie) heck were they thinking in the fourth round when they reached for Charlie Heck with much better players available? Overall, the Texans drafted pretty well, but the Hopkins trade was really bad, and still makes me angry.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Chicago Bears
Biggest Steal: Jaylon Johnson
Biggest Reach: Cole Kmet
The Bears are not in a very good position right now. They currently are not good enough to win now, and they don’t have enough young talent to be good in the future. Kmet was not even close to the best player on the board with the Bears on the clock, and will not help them as much as other players who were still available would have. Johnson was a solid pick, but nothing else they did in the draft was very good. The NFC North must want the Vikings to have it easy.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Pittsburgh Steelers
Biggest Steal: Anthony McFarland, Jr.
Biggest Reach: Alex Highsmith
I didn’t like the Chase Claypool pick at first, but it’s starting to grow on me, as it will let JuJu Smith-Schuster play in the slot where he plays best. Highsmith shouldn’t even have been in consideration for a third-round pick. That was a huge reach. McFarland is a really good running back who can help right now and in the future, but their other picks weren’t that special. Just a pretty decent draft all around for Pittsburgh.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Los Angeles Rams
Biggest Steal: Terrell Lewis
Biggest Reach: Sam Sloman
Cam Akers will come in to Los Angeles and immediately take over as the lead back for the Rams. Van Jefferson is a good player, but I saw him more as a late third, early fourth round type of player. I’m not a huge fan of any of the Rams day three picks. None of the Rams picks are terrible, but they didn’t get great value with any of their picks either. Even still, they were able to grab a few potential starters.
2020 NFL Draft Recap: Buffalo Bills
Biggest Steal: A.J. Epenesa
Biggest Reach: Tyler Bass
The Bills are lucky that A.J. Epenesa sucked at the combine. This guy is a first-round talent they got in the later part of the second round just because he doesn’t run 40 yards at a blazing pace. How often is he going to need to run 40 yards without stopping? Not very often. Zack Moss will form a nice duo with Devin Singletary. I also like the Bills later picks in the draft. The Bills brought in a lot of young talent through this draft and through the Stefon Diggs trade. If Josh Allen plays well, this team will be really tough to beat.

Great summary. I think the biggest looser is the Redskins – not with the draft but the draft day trade of Trent Williams. Overall think they lost ground. And the biggest winner has to be (love him or hate him) Tom Brady.
Great article
