AEW Women’s title No. 1 contender match
It was announced last week that there will be a fatal four-way to determine the next challenger for the AEW women’s champion, Nyla Rose. Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, Penelope Ford and Kris Statlander will all compete for the spot.
Shida, Statlander and Baker are all ranked in the top five of this weeks AEW Power Rankings. Ford is yet to wrestle a match on AEW Dynamite which puts her at a major disadvantage when it comes to experience on Wednesday nights.
While Ford is considered the dark horse in this match up, she’s not one to look past. She’s more than just a valet and will prove that tonight. Baker and Statlander both secured victories last night on AEW Dark.
Shida boasts an impressive 7-1 record in 2020. She has sat atop the women’s rankings for several weeks at this point and is the favorite heading into this bout.
Who will be the one to step up and challenge Nyla Rose at Double or Nothing? We’ll find out tonight on AEW Dynamite.
Lance Archer & Jake Roberts speak
Lance Archer will appear live tonight on AEW Dynamite to address his big match next Saturday.
Of course, Lance Archer will challenge Cody at Double or Nothing for the chance to become the inaugural TNT champion. Both men had incredible showings in the tournament leading up to the match and is one of the most anticipated matches heading into next weekend.
The TNT championship is the only singles title that Cody is allowed to challenge for. After losing to Chris Jericho for the AEW title at Full Gear, the stipulation was that Cody could never challenge for the belt again. He won’t let this opportunity slip, it means everything to him to be the first TNT champion in his own company.
On the other hand, Lance Archer has gone through everyone in his path since arriving on the scene. No one has stood a chance and won’t let Cody’s ambitions get in the way.
Brodie Lee vs. Christopher Daniels
Last week on AEW Dynamite, Brodie Lee beat down and challenged AEW champion, Jon Moxley for a title match next weekend at Double or Nothing.
“All you had to do was ask,” said Moxley after last weeks attack.
Lee has steamrolled his way through the AEW roster since his debut in mid-March. With no end in sight, tonight we get Christopher Daniels in the form of a sacrificial lamb.
Don’t get me wrong, Daniels is a great wrestler and a true star. He’s the first legitimate opponent AEW has fed to Lee. With that being said, Lee won’t get as much offense in as we’ve seen in recent weeks. But he needs to. Obviously he’ll pick up the victory – and it’s smart to put him up against someone of Daniels caliber. But, Lee needs to look as dominant as possible heading into Double or Nothing.
