Remember all those negative tests from the very beginning of the season? Those are all in the past now. The wonderful days of “All tests return negative” seem so long ago. Now here we are in NFL Week 4 and COVID-19 has officially reared it’s ugly head.
That brings me to my first overreaction –
Pause the season
This time last week we had the news of the Tennessee Titans having multiple positive cases of COVID-19 and the subsequent rescheduling of the game, as well as the New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton testing positive and being replaced by Brian Hoyer and the game being moved from it’s originally scheduled Sunday late afternoon spot to Monday night.
Now we have not only more positive cases from the Titans and Patriots, but now a positive test from the Atlanta Falcons.
The notable positive test this time around is stud New England cornerback Stephone Gilmore who was very chummy with Kansas City’s MVP-in-waiting, Patrick Mahomes.
The positive tests are happening with increasing frequency and the NFL needs to get out in front of it. If it comes to it, they could move the games to a later date, but I am of the opinion that the they should pause the season.
Dak Prescott
I’m not a Dallas Cowboys defender, but one player needs to be defended. Only one.
Dak Prescott has been out of his mind. While it’s mostly due to his defense being so apocalyptically bad and having no other choice but to chuck the ball, he has been the one good thing about the Cowboys this season.
In his last three games he has thrown for 450, 472, and 502 yards and the only game they won in that stretch was a game they should have lost if not for an insane comeback against the Falcons after being down 26-7 in the second quarter and then 39-24 with under eight minutes left in the game.
I’m not saying Dak is in the upper tier of signal callers, because he’s not, but he is very much an above average quarterback in a league where half the teams would cut off their right arm to have him slinging it form them.
New York Jets
I have previously lumped the Giants in with the Jets. This was a mistake.
As the weeks go by I realize that the Giants, while bad, show effort. Now, I’m not saying they won’t end up with a top 3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but the New York Jets are one of the worst teams I have ever seen.
Through four games they have been outscored by 66 points. Sixty-six points. This team will struggle to win a singular game.

I agree with Orlovsky.
And just when you didn’t think it could get worse they’re going to start Joe Flacco this Sunday.
Cleveland Browns
I’m a glutton for punishment, but I’m back on the Browns.
If you look at the rest of their schedule you could see a path to them winning 11 games.
I fully expect to look back on this reaction and bemoan it because the Browns gonna Brown, but until then lets bask in the glory that is the 3-1 Cleveland Browns.
They can run the ball and they reeled in Baker Mayfield to the point where he looks like a quarterback that won’t be the reason you look the game.
The defense is currently a wreck. Clubber Lang Myles Garrett is bringing it with five sacks in the first four games, but the secondary is in shambles.
Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb have combined to rush for 610 yards on 107 carries (5.7 yards per carry) and 7 touchdowns.
As long as they can run the ball like that they can afford to give up Cowboys-like yardage on defense.

Aaron Rodgers
I realize I just had Aaron Rodgers here last week, but after his performance this past Sunday (27-33, 327 yards, 4 TDs & 96.9 QBR in 30-16 win over the Falcons) and in addition to his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, I had to make it a back-to-back week.
The MVP talk is valid.
He should get the MVP just for his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show yesterday (October 6).

He’s not wrong.
