It matters not what you think of him as a human being. At least for this second. But, Gervonta Davis is one bad young man. And it seems the more “chaos” is around, the better he does. And not necessarily the domestic violence kind. There are times when he seems distracted in fights with what’s going on around him. So now after handing Hector Garcia his first loss, does Tank Davis roll over everyone else.

At least at 135-pounds if he lands more than 50% of his power shots (finished at 73-139 to Garcia’s 50-188); he CAN NOT LOSE. And that’s something you can lock up. He might not have Deontay Wilder-esque power, but at lightweight; it means lights out.

And that’s what happened to Garcia. He didn’t get flatlined, thanks to a chin; but in a way he got worse. He was getting assaulted in the eighth-round after an odd time-out thanks to a celebrity row fight with MEEK MILL. And the last shot to the right side of his head short-circuited him. In between rounds Garcia kept telling his corner he couldn’t see. That would be understandable if he got his eye socket shattered, but it was a temple shot. And that’s the power of this “Tank”.

Does Tank Davis Roll Over Another Garcia Now

Nothing is completely in writing, but Ryan Garcia is the target now. And as boxing fans are well aware of (i.e. Spence – Crawford), two-parties saying they want to fight, and it actually happening is two entirely different things.

Thanks to a really effective left hand, mixing things up, and real time adjustments Davis was able to take away Hector Garcia’s jab, and size advantage. His timing is getting better too, and for someone with dynamic power it seems as if the scales are totally on his side. Although he did tell JIM GRAY post-fight; “THERE’S STILL STUFF TO WORK ON”.

Thanks to Joe Goossen “Kingry” has the come forward style that will turn that fight into a slugfest shootout. He’s bigger than Hector is too. But there are serious questions if Ryan is powerful enough, consistent enough, or have a chin strong enough to handle Davis. The answer to all of those is bluntly: no. Add in that Davis just doesn’t put himself in bad positions.

Ryan Garcia will have a hand speed advantage (besides size), so it’s possible a flurry of hooks could put Tank down. But it would take volume to finish Davis. Whereas with Tank, it could only take one. Especially if he get’s on the inside.

But Can It Happen, Or Is There Something Else

Ahhh… boxer’s wanting to fight until promoters get involved. It’s the story of the sport now-a-days. Whether Al Haymon and Oscar dela Hoya can get this done is anyone’s guess. If they don’t; in theory the next best thing is for Tank to fight Devin Haney for WBA clarification. But no way does Haymon and Bob Arum come to a deal. And that also puts out possibly the only other fighter in the division that can frustrate him in deep waters; Vasiliy Lomachenko.
