Darnell Wright draft scouting card (reference/term key under scouting notes)

Scouting Notes

  • Explosive off the snap.
  • Perfect weight and strength distribution throughout his upper and lower body.
  • Despite getting schooled once or twice, he dominated against Will Anderson Jr. all game.
  • Dominant in pass pro, lacking in run pro.
  • Exceptionally strong and powerful hands, but poor placement. Puts his hands and locks into disadvantageous positions.
  • Gets low very well, but he lowers his head when he does too often. If defenders catch onto that he can be exposed.
  • Struggled to consistently get the right angles in run pro.

Short Summary

Darnell Wright has garnered a lot of hype ever since dominating the Senior Bowl, but his stock is built on more than just hype. Simply put, Wright is good at everything. He has very few flaws, and even those don’t really hinder his full-time ability to dominate.

There are very few Tackles in this class that possess his level of “flawlessness”. Granted, his advanced stats don’t look great, but he played much better than those numbers indicate. Despite not having any elite individual traits, he is great at everything and possesses the ideal build for the position. There is no reason Darnell Wright can’t develop into one of the best Tackles in the NFL.

Scouting Card Key

  • Age refers to the age of the player come draft night, rounded to the nearest half-age.
  • Percentage numbers in the Player Info and Combine Stats sections – This refers to the percentile that number belongs to among all players at his position, going back nearly a decade.
  • Percentiles in the Advanced Stats portion for cumulative stats are snap-adjusted. In other words, naturally, a player with more snaps will allow more sacks. Therefore, the percentiles are calculated using the snap-adjusted number, rather than the straight-forward total.
  • PBLK Grade – PFF Pass Block Grade.
  • RBLK Grade – PFF Run Block Grade.
  • HitA, HurryA, PressA, SacksA – Hits Allowed, Hurries Allowed, Pressures Allowed, Sacks Allowed.
  • Efficiency – A PFF signature blocking stat.
  • L.Mobility, V.Mobility – Lateral and Vertical mobility.
