We have been without college football for over two months now. Listen I know, I miss those Saturday morning College Gameday shows as much as the next person. However, something we can always talk about as fans and it’s those teams and other fans of those teams. Because the unwritten rule is if you aren’t a part of the fan base then you don’t like them right? Whether you have friends who pull for that team or not, you know the friendship is left at the gates on Saturday.
With that being said, one fan base tops all others. The most annoying fans who have caused hatred for their team and other fans. Whether it’s because of the success of their team, or because they knock your team when theirs takes a loss. The reasons a fan base could make this list are endless for me so I had some help.
I asked the team here at Belly Up Sports who they thought deserved to be on the most hated college football fans list, and here is what they had to say. Plus, some results from our Twitter poll as well. Combine those with a tiny bit of research and I’ve finally got you a top-five list of teams.
Dishonorable Mentions?
I mean it really isn’t an honorable mention for a list like this right? So, maybe it’s more of a dishonorable mention to be included but not ranked. I’ve got a few teams here but only because they may or may have not gotten locked into a tie with others. Plus you can’t hate every team, right?
We wanna know! Who is your most hated college football fan base in America and why? #CFP #NCAA #CollegeFootball

Let’s start off with the Twitter poll results for the most hated college football fans. I mean I’m sure you all saw that coming when voting right? However, I’m not talking about the glaring winners right now. I want to take a second and talk about those “other” answers for a second.
Some of those teams include your reigning National Champion Georgia Bulldogs and even a Cinderella fan favorite in App State. Because of annoying fans, then you see some teams located in Florida, and they made it because of how their fans treat other fans. From the Belly Up family, I got teams like Iowa, and Penn State, but those fell under the “If you aren’t a part of the fan base then you don’t like them” rule. One way or another you can always find something or some reason to not like another fan base or team.
So, it’s not really an “honorable” mention I guess it’s more of a dishonorable thing. Now however it is time to move on to what you’re here for, the actual list of the most hated college football fans around. So, let’s get it started with number five.
5. Tennessee Volunteers
Let’s start this off with one of my personally hated teams. The Tennessee Volunteers, yeah they had a good team last year. Arguably could’ve been in the playoffs had Hendon Hooker not gone down against South Carolina. Nonetheless, Tennessee fans for me are some of the worst in college football. While they have a great history, and an even better Stadium this past season was the first double-digit winning season in fifteen years! I guess I should’ve guessed that though since every year we’ve heard from the fans that “next year is our year” since like 2009 when Lane Kiffin abandoned Knoxville after barely getting a winning season. Then you threw mustard and trash at the guy when he returned with his new team. Come on you have to have more class than that UT fans.
Tennessee arguably hasn’t been one of the top programs in college football since the early 2000s. Minus last year of course. So, for some of their fans to act like they are the absolute best in the South is crazy to me plus they are some of the worse fans to rag on you when your team takes a loss. I grew up in Volunteer Country as a fan of an SEC East rival. Let me tell you, some Tennessee fans know no bounds when it comes to trash talk.
4. Miami Hurricanes
They are known as “The U” the Miami Hurricanes. Again another very decorated program within the college football community. They have two of the all-time winningest seasons in college football, and in one of those stretches won thirty-four consecutive games. Not to mention the countless number of NFL legends they’ve provided us over the years. However much like Tennesee when you had success your fans get used to it and can’t let it go. I mean they resorted to fighting in the stands when the Canes were losing to MTSU last season.

The Hurricanes have had multiple winning seasons over the last decade-plus, however nothing to the success of those early 2000s and 1980s teams. That is what is disappointing for me. You are winning but you’re no longer a top-of-the-line program. Give some of those fans of the teams who you beat up on in your prime a break. Your team is average now just like them.
3. Texas Longhorns
Why is it that the last two teams and Texas are very similar? Historic programs that have just fallen off. Texas hasn’t won a conference championship in football since Vince Young was their quarterback it feels like anyways. However, they are more worried about opposing fan bases throwing up a “horns down” hand sign.
Don’t you have something bigger to worry about? Also yes we know you got Arch Manning as your backup quarterback. What’s he done for you so far exactly? Shut up, and let’s see if the potential of some of these players you have currently pan out. Or if you’re going to be like another Texas school that paid a ton for good recruits and then did nothing with them. You’ve got the potential to have a good team again, and honestly, I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
2. Ohio State
Ohio State. Your recent success while deserved I guess hasn’t helped the “classy” fans of the fan base. If anything it’s kind of caused them to explode. Which tends to happen a lot with success. Success breeds hate I guess. Or is it the fact that everyone who roots for them or played for them finds it necessary to put “the” in front of Ohio State? I mean you have seen the results of the above poll, how can I argue with the people? Either way Ohio State your number two on the list of the most hated college football fans! I guess that’s something you’re used to saying to SEC schools at least.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Most Tide fans are seeing this and going ahh another number-one ranking what’s new? It’s no secret how successful they have been in Tuscaloosa. They’ve won multiple national championships and sent many players to the NFL. However, I’m willing to guess the amount of Alabama fans drastically increased once Saban started succeeding. Bandwagon fans are arguably the worst in sports and Alabama has to have the most in college football.

That’s not all either though, again you’ve seen the poll above you can’t disagree with the people. Now whether it’s because of success or maybe it’s that any time they play a bad game it’s the officiating team’s fault. Either way, Alabama made it to number one once more. Roll on Tide fans. Stay Classy!
It Is What It Is.
I’m greatly looking forward to the countless, whiny fans of each of these fan bases. Unfortunately, though as it states above the results are what they are. It’s not my fault the majority of your fan base stinks. Either way, feel free to let me know what you think! I look forward to it actually as I said a minute ago.
As always you know the deal follow me on Twitter if you want, but make sure you follow any and all of the Belly Up pages!
