The UFC is coming back this Saturday after a week-long break of fights. For the first time in over a year, the UFC is returning to Austin Texas. The last event in Austin is considered one of the best Fight Nights in recent history. Out of the 15 fights on that card, 11 of them came by stoppage. Three out of the four decisions were a split decision, with one being the main event. This time back around in Austin does not look to disappoint. Names like Bobby Green, Deveison Figuerdo, Jalin Turner and Rob Font round out the main card, with Arman Tsarukyan and Beneil Dariush being our main event.
The Main Event of the Evening
Arman Tsarukyan 🆚 Beneil Dariush
The main event featuring Arman Tsarukyan and Beneil Dariush is a classic old-school vs new school fight. Dariush has been in a total of 22 UFC fights, while Tsarukyan is considered to be an elite rising star in the lightweight division. Tsarukyan fought lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in his UFC debut. He was very competitive in that fight and showed glimpses of stardom early on in his career. Now with seven out of eight wins since that fight, with his one loss being very controversial, he is known as the dark horse of the division.
Dariush, on the other hand, is coming off a loss to former champion Charles Oliveira after winning eight straight. This will be the toughest test since Makhachev for Tsarukyan. If he gets it done, he will finally be considered in the title convention at lightweight. Look for Tsarukyan to settle into the fight before taking over and stopping Dariush late in the third round.
The Co-Main Event
Bobby Green 🆚 Jalin Turner
The co-main event is another lightweight fight between “King” Bobby Green and Jalin Turner. This fight is going to be a very fan-friendly fight to watch, as both fighters love to stand and bang. Turner took this fight on less than two weeks’ notice after Dan Hooker broke the same hand that he broke when facing Jalin Turner. Bobby Green is coming off one of the year’s biggest upsets, knocking out Grant Dawson in less than a minute. Green may have found his stride with back-to-back very impressive finishes.
Turner is coming off two split-decision losses in a row after winning five straight. In such a must-win spot for Turner, the fact that he stepped up on short notice shows a lot about him. He has a massive five-inch height advantage over Green in this fight. Although it should be competitive, Turner will be able to get it done. Look for Turner to edge out a decision victory in what could and should be Fight of the Night.
