The New York Rangers need to sign Collin Graf. Yes all the focus in the NHL is on the trade deadline. We are just days away, but another important date just passed. March 1st, the first day teams can sign college undrafted free agents. This year’s big prize is Collin Graf. The Quinnipiac University star could be the perfect fit for the Rangers future and revolving door at right wing. The 6’1, 195 pound forward has been a scoring machine in his two years at QU, oh and he led them to a National Championship last year.
The 21-year-old has racked up 105 points the last two years, the most in NCAA hockey. He was a Hobey Baker award finalist last year and will be one of if not the favorite to win it this year. He has a nose for the goal and with so many question marks surrounding the Rangers depth at right wing he makes a lot of sense. The Rangers obviously will not be the only bidders for Graf, but they are no strangers to signing the big-time college free agent. They famously won the Jimmy Vesey sweepstakes when he was the talk of college hockey. A few other examples are Kevin Hayes, Neal Pionk, Cam Talbot, Matt Gilroy, and most recently Bobby Trivigno.
