The Chiefs are looking to make history. First team to ever win a Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons. The Eagles are not only looking to prevent that but avenge their loss that started this run for Kansas City two years ago. Sideline Summit breaks down the key components of the game, tale of the tape, and give their predictions for the big game.
Chiefs Path To Victory
Kansas City has thrived on ball control and keeping things winnable. With Patrick Mahomes at the helm, the Chiefs are always in a position to win the close ones. With ball control comes a defense that makes the necessary stops when called upon. Chris said, “Keep it under 30 and make sure Patrick Mahomes has the ball last.”
The recipe seems to be working well. Despite not scoring 30 points in the regular season, the Chiefs won a league-best 15 games. A good enough defensive performance and Mahomes having the ball last has won the Chiefs a Super Bowl before. The Eagles have seen it once already and the 49ers saw it last season in overtime.
Eagles Path To Victory
While it may seem cliche, the Eagles can win this game by not losing the turnover battle. While Jalen Hurts gave us an all-time performance in 2022, that fumble ended up biting Philadelphia. However, that doesn’t mean it’s all on him to protect the ball. This Eagles defense is winning the turnover battle 10-0 this postseason. Hurts has been doing his share of protecting the ball while the defense and special teams wreak havoc.
Saquon Barkley is the biggest difference from their matchup of two years ago. If the Eagles are presented with a two-possession lead at any point in the game, Barkley will be there to salt the game away. Daniel said “If they get the lead early, they go up 2414 like they did last time. Put your foot on their throat.”
The type of mentality that tells the Eagles to not just avoid losing, but go win and be fearless. A conservative team cannot compete in a Super Bowl against the Chiefs.
Winner and Super Bowl MVP Predictions
Chris- Chiefs 24-21. Mahomes goes for 225 passing yards and three total touchdowns in a mistake-free game earning him MVP.
Daniel- 34-28 Eagles. Barkley runs for 180 rushing yards, and two scores, and caps off the greatest running back season of all time with the Super Bowl MVP.
Antonio- 35-27 Eagles. Hurts gets the Super Bowl MVP he let get away in 2022. 285 total yards and four total touchdowns with no turnovers.
