We might not yet have Spence-Crawford, or Fury-Usyk; but boxing fans do have a fight that real fans of the sport have called for for quite some time. A mega women’s fight official as Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano not only clash on April 30th at Madison Square Garden, but the ladies headline the night. And that’s the first time that has ever happened.
And on the line at “The Mecca” live on DAZN is Taylor’s undisputed lightweight championship. The pair have been at the top of the sport almost since day one. They were originally supposed to meet back in mid-2020. The meeting of the minds between EDDIE HEARN and JAKE PAUL made this come together quicker than expected.
Mega Women’s Fight Official; Now Comes The Smack Talk
While both can be brash if pushed, they are normally reserved when speaking. And the duo have started to let some words fly. Serrano has a massive experience edge, and knows how to take opponents into deep waters. Katie Taylor, who’ll have a 1 1/4 inch reach advantage shouldn’t have too many problems with fighting the southpaw opened the back-and-forth. She throws punches in bunches and is a come forward fighter.
“Amanda has nothing that worries me. It’s a fight I’ve wanted for a long, long time and I’m just excited for it to finally take place”.
The seven-division champion, Serrano came back with:
“It is a dream come true to headline Madison Square Garden and do so against one of the greatest boxers of all time in Katie Taylor. But, I’ll f**k that b***h”.
So it’ll be interesting how catty things get as the days draw nearer. Serrano might have some things on her side. While New York has a monstrous Irish population that no doubt will show for Taylor; Serrano is from Brooklyn. Making this a homefield advantage. Plus Taylor beat Serrano’s younger sister Cindy four-years ago.
With Jake Paul involved there is the possibility that there will be some type of “cross-over” fights on the card. Although Hearn agreeing to something like that might be hard to understand. More will come out as all parties start a World-Wide press tour beginning in New York next Tuesday.
