Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers took the field for their NFL minicamp yesterday. Some athletes take time to sign autographs, meet and greet ” Make A Wish” kids. That was the case yesterday with Cam Newton at the Carolina Panthers minicamp. Newton a minicamp hero made the kids day, week, month, and year. What a breath of fresh air to see a superstar athlete interact with kids with joy and fun. Exhibit A below.

Cam Newton Minicamp Hero

As a football fan, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Newton interact with the Make A Wish kids in yesterday’s minicamp. It reminded me of when I was young girl fangirling over professional athletes. I can vividly recall watching Warren Moon and being up close and watching him interact with kids like myself at a Super Bowl festivity back in the 90s. My only regret is I still wish I had the picture of the special day, the excitement, thrill, and being a nervous wreck meeting all the football players. I attended the event in Miami with classmates and siblings. It was back in 1994-1996 when he was with the Minnesota Vikings

It was one of my fondest memories to this day. I will never forget that event, I was in eighth grade at the time and a group of student-athletes had the opportunity to be invited to the Super Bowl festivities. What an honor, privilege, and delightful moment to have had as a young girl. I completely understand their joy meeting Newton and having to speak to him, ask questions and have a friendly relay.

Make A Wish

The Make A Wish kids will never forget that particular moment. They will cherish it forever. How amazing to have an athlete like Newton not only be playful with them. In addition, he made them run a friendly race amongst each other. Many professional athletes speak to the kids briefly and answer their questions. Above all, Newton is a special guy and most importantly he not only answered their questions but went beyond their expectations.

Cam Newton is showing a light of professional athletes giving their precious time to kids that idolize them as players and people. The media will not show the good side of athletes and how much time they spent dedicating helping their communities. If every NFL player can shine a light to the kids like Newton did the world would a better place.

To sum up, Newton is a minicamp hero with the kids.
