I normally do a weekly power rankings piece covering the NASCAR Cup Series. Like many others, I have been binge-playing the new College Football 2025 video game. It got me thinking since NASCAR is on break right now due to the Olympics being covered on all of NBC’s branches of networks. Why not throw another rankings piece out there? Plus we lost a ton of awesome college quarterbacks to the NFL last season. So here is who I think are the top ten college quarterbacks ahead of the 2024 football season.

Notable guys: Riley Leonard (Notre Dame), DJ Uiagalelei (Florida State), Will Rogers(Washington) and Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee)

The Bottom Five

This may be a bit high for Brady. However, his stats in 2023 were pretty good. His QBR averaged out to be around 157.2. You can see why though, when you throw for over three thousand yards and twenty-one touchdowns to six interceptions.

He missed all last season with a knee injury. So again another guy who probably is a bit higher than he should be. He’s 18-6 as a starter with 46 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. I like Rising more for his leadership though as well as his skill set. His not being on the field last season showed.

Staying on the field is key for this kid. In his last fourteen complete games, he’s thrown for over 3,300 yards, and 29 touchdowns. However, those fourteen complete games span a total of twenty-nine Kansas football games. If he can stay healthy, he will have plenty of weapons around him on the field. A twelve-hundred-yard rusher and a wide receiver room filled with seniors.

Noah was pretty much a no-name. He got a few D1 offers from schools in his region. Yes, he only had nine starts. However, he finished with over twenty-eight hundred yards through the air and twenty-five touchdown passes. Then he went on to finish ahead of names like Caleb Williams, Jalen Milroe, and Jordan Travis in total QBR. He also has a 1400-yard receiver in Tetairoa McMillan remaining with him in Tucson.

He’s coming off leading his team to the first eleven-win season of school history. He threw for 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns. He had his best year statistically to date and another offseason with Lane Kiffin so his stats are surely only going to improve. The question some will ask is if Ole Miss can contend and/or beat Alabama or Georgia who have a strong hold on the conference.

I’m not saying the hype is real just yet. I think Sanders throws a pretty pass. I also think he tries to do too much sometimes. He’s got to do his part this year to limit the time he’s holding onto the ball. He took fifty-two sacks and was pressured on almost forty percent of his dropbacks. He does have a full offseason with Pat Shurmur his offensive coordinator now so as long as he can stay healthy the Buffs can contend or should.

After using the prior offseason to devote himself to being better. Then doing just that by finishing with over thirty-four hundred passing yards and twenty-two touchdowns. He beat a Nick Saban-led Alabama team on their home turf in Tuscaloosa. Which is no easy task, and then only lost two games all season by no more than one score. Ewers has the talent and another year with this playbook. Even though the schedule difficulty took a step up this season joining the SEC.

Dillon Gabriel is going to shock some. I mean seriously think about this for a second. Bo Nix was a nobody at Auburn. Then came to Oregon and became a Heisman contender. Dillon is number eight on the all-time FBS passing list with 14,865 yards. He needs over forty-three hundred yards to beat the current record held by Case Keenum. Dillon is going to thrive in Eugene, in the fast-paced offense the Ducks run.

This is a strongly controversial pick. Or maybe not? I think some don’t feel as though Jalen Milroe is going to reach the limits of other quarterbacks the Tide have had in the past. However, Jalen developed his downfield passing skills and a ton of other areas throughout the season finishing with over twenty-eight hundred yards and twenty-three touchdowns. Not only that but I’m sure he will have to adjust to the new coaching playbook. Remember that Kalen DeBoer helped transform Michael Penix Jr. into a record-setting quarterback. Is #2 a bit high for Jalen on this top ten college quarterbacks list?

I think this one was an easy pick for number one on my top ten college quarterbacks of 2024. In his first season as a starter and under a new offensive coordinator. He threw the ball for almost four thousand yards(3,941), twenty-four touchdowns, and even grabbed a few rushing touchdowns. This is an offense that ranked fifth in the FBS  when it came to scoring(40.1 points a game) and eleventh in passing yards per game. Yes, they lost Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey but added four new targets in the transfer portal. Not to mention you know with it being a Georgia team the offensive line and run game are going to be solid. Carson has the chance to lock himself in as one of the best quarterbacks in the class and should have no problem doing so.

The Fun Part

Alright, so how’d I do? Did I put some people on my top ten list that you wouldn’t have even considered? Or maybe I left one of your favorite guys off the list? Either way, I think you should drop a comment below and let me know! I think like most of us anyway I need college football back as fast as possible. The new game and the remainder of the NASCAR season should help me make it until the first kickoff of the new season though or at least I hope so.
