After four games, Derrick Henry leads all running backs with 525 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns. With this start, Henry is in position to have a career year, in his first season with Baltimore.
Sunday Night’s performance from Henry was a signature, breaking the Ravens’ record for the longest run in franchise history.
“Derrick Henry set the franchise record for longest run from scrimmage on the Ravens’ first offensive snap against the Bills.”
He has been as dominant as any player throughout his career but has not earned himself an MVP trophy.
He would be the first running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012, to win the award.
CMC, while contending for the MVP trophy last year, earned himself the Offensive Player Of The Year award. He had an abundant year and carried the Niners throughout the season and into the Super Bowl, falling just short of a Lombardi. I still think he deserved to win MVP over Lamar Jackson.
This year I think Henry could find himself in the same conversations. CMC finished with 2,023 scrimmage yards. Henry is on pace for 300 more yards than that.
If Henry were to stay on pace he could compete with Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 rushing yards and LaDainian Tomlinsons record of 31 all-purpose touchdowns.
Through four games in LT’s record-breaking season, he had only scored 3 touchdowns.
Looking Forward, the Ravens are headed to face the Bengals in Cincinnati. Through four games the Bengals have allowed 145 rushing yards per game to opposing offenses, setting the stage for another successful day for Henry.
