So what is the Bang Radio Hour, and why is it on Belly Up Sports?
According to a review we received when nominated for a podcast People’s Choice award in 2010 “Imagine talking football with the Looney Tunes. Raunchy, ridiculous and fun”.
It is football. It is funny. It is slightly fabulous, and occasionally snores. And that is why it is here on Belly Up Sports. You can find us on the Affiliates page.
The Bang Radio Hour is among the longest running podcasts on planet Earth, currently in our 14th season. We are a comedy football show, primarily dealing with the NFL and the NCAA, with some other fun stuff tossed in as we see fit.
This is a fan show, not stats and analysis. It is released on Thursdays most of the time, and we figure by then you have already heard every sports mouth there is give you their takes on the game and their version of analysis.
We are fans, we’ve been watching football a LONG time, probably since before many of you could talk. Tom is a Cowboys fan. John is a Redskins fan. Tom is an Ohio state Buckeye fan; John is a Penn State Nittany Lion fan. And it could not work better.
So we don’t worry about it. We talk football, but we’re fans. We aren’t here to teach you anything, we are here to entertain you. It is a fast and funny hour and change, professionally produced and filled with ridiculous audio mined from all over the internet. Guests drop by on occasion, Ben Roethlisberger, Jerry Jones, God and others have all popped in on recent episodes.
So after you’ve spent the week listening to all that football analysis, we invite you to relax and catch up on all the fun.
With that too-short introduction, here is a synopsis of this week’s show.
Bang Radio Hour episode 343: This Is the Amusing Part
Tackling the tough issues of the NFL with the trademark class and distinction, this week The Bang Radio Hour is forced to deal with the Kareem Hunt issue and the surrounding controversies dogging the league.
Now, normally we’d make some crass and offensive jokes and tell anyone who complained to go f*ck their dog. But it’s a new era of social media hysteria masquerading as morality, and while we really don’t give a f*ck about those who would harass folks on social media for making crass and offensive jokes, we rather like dogs, and don’t want any of them to have to deal with any unwanted advances from their triggered masters.
So for this episode and this highly sensitive topic, we believe we have found the happy medium that will allow our listeners to experience the fun and all around jovial nature of the Bang Radio Hour, while not offending anyone in any way what so ever.
But before that we do get the Last Word on Last Week, as we are forced to listen to Tom crow over his Cowboys stunning victory over the Saints. We have some laughs with the contrasting radio calls of game winning field goals from both Pittsburgh vs Los Angeles, and Arizona’s upset of Green Bay. We have some fun with Mike McCarthy getting fired, and do some totally non-PC Muppet impressions.
Bill Bellichick explains how Adam Thielen can utilize all three phases of shutting his trap. Cam Newton is color blind, but some of his fans are tired of spending the green.
Meanwhile in Austin Texas, a good Samaritan tries to rescue Clark Griswold.
Colonel Coughlin answers some email, and listeners tell us what they think, and of course we get an email from a random NFL player. We close the show with our bets for the week, of which Tom is winning this year, and John is slightly off this year and down a few hundred bucks.
So I know all of that is extremely vague and reeks of being a tease, to which I would say “duh”,and “of course it is”.
